Resin Encapsulation

Use glasscast 50 or one similar, cheap resin stinks and you get bubbles, pour in stages for best results, I am about to do a table with cases., I have done some smaller items just not as big as a table. If I was doing a scull I would put the scull onto some nice Burl with some LED'S for a table lamp.

Would be very interested in trying this.
I use a deep pour epoxy from the states, very expensive but can pour up to 4inch at a time.
But work off cubic area also. So pouring a roe skull would be possible in one pour, as it takes 24 hours to cure (a lot better for no air bubbles) not like a lot of epoxy’s in the uk
May give a muntjac a try first and see how the result comes out hopefully in the near future if not to busy 🤦🏼‍♂️

From watching a lot of live edge resin wood products being made they pour the resin in layers due to the heat produced as it cures, if done properly you can't see any lines between the layers once set and polished. With this in mind I assume yiu could simply pour a base, let it set then sit the head on it, pour up another layer, let it set then finish off? As long as air bubbles are removed along the way it should look very good.
It is called exotherm, the effect, had a lot of it happen when I was doing that work in the late 60s.

Well this is serendipitous.

My Cocker found a birds nest a couple of months ago.

I used it in a 'gag' when @Klenchblaize made a comment about me finding a Hornets nest in my attic:-

I should very much like to have the nest (not the gag) preserved in resin.

It goes without saying, I would fcuk it up.

Does anyone do this?

I did see a video, believe it was with a mule deer scull that they did in resin in the middle of a slab of wood with a hole in it to create a table. Interesting idea it looked pretty good.
