Returning newly issued FAC to correct error

So my FAC arrived Monday (Yay!!) However, the admin team allocated one of moderators to the .22 slot, instead of the .308 slot as agreed with my FEO. I contacted him and he said no problem, just return it and they will correct it.....However, where do I stand legally meantime if not in possesssion of the actual certificate and therefore unable to produce if if for example stopped by the Police while it was being corrected?

^^^ Exactly this :thumb:

Happened with my last renewal in September - returned, corrected and returned immediately.

Your FAC details are stored electronically on the NFLMS system and are available to any force.

Lucky you noticed! I didn’t realise one of the rifles on my new certificate was wrong until I went to do a one on one off swap…. Dealer couldn’t process it due to the serial numbers not even being vaguely similar….. good news was that it didn’t take long to have it corrected and reprinted.

As the man said you have a valid certificate you just don't have the piece of paper in your possession.

In the past some of us hardly ever had the physical certificate in our hands as it was always away for renewal, variation or to have errors corrected.

Errors on their side are indeed common and are not a problem, however an error made by an fac holder is a different matter , what a fair system 😊
I think genuine errors are treated fairly.
I had a shotgun for several years that wasn't on my SGC due to an oversight on my part. When this was discovered at renewal inspection the FEO just added it on.

(The background to this is that the gun had been on loan to a friend for a number of years, and was appropriately transferred to his SGC.
When he eventually returned it to me I wasn't at home, so my wife took it from him and locked it away. It subsequently didn't occur to me chase him up over the paperwork, he then moved abroad, and the whole thing was forgotten about).

Depends very much if NFLMS is 'available' and can be 'contacted' by the personel at the roadside stop/pullover.
Before that it also assumes they (the stopping personel) actually know what the NFLMS is and how to access it - not just 'firearms = dangerous,....'............................just sayin'

No doubt despite protestations the easiest course of action as 'firearms and perceived risk' involved? 'Book him Danno a la Hawaii 5-0'

In my constabulary you’d have lost your licence

Maybe worth taking a photocopy/screenshot on your phone and keep it with you. Its something for reference and probably helpful to provide it to an officer if stopped when out without the physical copy? Probably not needed but good practise.

the down side to this is are you wont have your fac you wont be able to buy ammunition/primer or powder .

Indeed, I once got a bollocking at renewal as one shotgun was not in my cabinet When I informed the FEO I had sold it I was told this was a serious issue as I apparently hadn't informed them within the required period........fortunately I was able to produce a copy of the email and "received receipt" informing them on the day of the sale. No apology was forthcoming......

I know a story of one guy who's cert come back after a variation with an empty rifle slot now reading '2.2RF.'

Are there rimfire cannons availiable
