Returning newly issued FAC to correct error

Hiper

Depends very much if NFLMS is 'available' and can be 'contacted' by the personel at the roadside stop/pullover.
Before that it also assumes they (the stopping personel) actually know what the NFLMS is and how to access it - not just 'firearms = dangerous,....'............................just sayin'

No doubt despite protestations the easiest course of action as 'firearms and perceived risk' involved? 'Book him Danno a la Hawaii 5-0'

Even a vehicle/driver check will show you as a FAC/SGC holder

Hi

Sure, but it is down to the 'Officers' at the time to decide what to do with said information - as FAC's are good to get rid of (unavailable to Plebs Mckay report) for the record (and 'career')?

Suspect side of 'extreme caution' will be taken........and let subsequent 'process' wend its way :(

So my FAC arrived Monday (Yay!!) However, the admin team allocated one of moderators to the .22 slot, instead of the .308 slot as agreed with my FEO. I contacted him and he said no problem, just return it and they will correct it.....However, where do I stand legally meantime if not in possesssion of the actual certificate and therefore unable to produce if if for example stopped by the Police while it was being corrected?
Take a photo of it before you send it back, in the unlikely event of being stopped just show the photo and they can radio in and confirm.

I have photos of any and all relevant documentation in a password locked folder on my phone, and I have hard copies of my permission slips hidden in my car.

I have avoided having hard copies of certs on me, other than when needed to purchase. Not worth the risk or faff of losing/damaging them. Even photocopies arent always a good idea and if lost or stolen, there is your address and a shopping list of your guns right next to it, but better than hard copies if no other option.

I think the best bet is photos on your phone protected by password or face ID

I've just received my new FAC (renewed) which is just as well, as the old one resembled papier-mache!
I'm not really a fan of carrying FAC when out and about, but after a few episodes of wanting to purchase ammo while away stalking I just stuffed it in my backpack and left there, just in case.

Lucky you noticed! I didn’t realise one of the rifles on my new certificate was wrong until I went to do a one on one off swap…. Dealer couldn’t process it due to the serial numbers not even being vaguely similar….. good news was that it didn’t take long to have it corrected and reprinted.
You were lucky you weren’t trying to leave the country on a shooting trip,I know of people that have only discovered it while filling out the forms at point of exit.
