Ridgeline monsoon jacket?

Now I got a ridgeline jacket a stack of years ago off swillington shooting supplies and yes it's warm and has loads of pockets so with its main function being a walking the dogs coat it's fitted the criteria, is it waterproof.... Nope, maybe showerproof.. Do you sweat in it, you bet ya do...
But for some reason I've never fallen out with it.

Right so.... The zips finally had it so I'm in for a new one..

Anyone using the upto date ridgeline gear? Any good?
Cheers Jimmy

Unless they have changed their fabric, the moniker 'binline' still applies...

Supposedly the Ridgeline designs being simillar to Swazi come from an NZ retailer sending some Swazi gear to China for 'research'. The Chinese mailed the Swazi stuff back to Swazi by accident, and that was the end of Swazi's relationship with the NZ retailer. Supposedly Ridgeline is their House brand.

I've got the Deer hunter Keeper one from Bushwear. Very similar in looks, waterproofness and breathability.

if you’re sitting still in a shower they are ok. If you move and it’s raining properly they are shocking. Like wearing a bin liner, sweat like a pig in it.

As has been said above. Ridgeline is crap. Hot, sweaty crap.

If I am dling rough work I wear oilskin top and trousers. Basically a plastic suit. Even that is more breathable and comfortable than my ridgeline and it only cost me £20.

I've used the monsoon elite, model from about 5 years ago in the worst weather and its what I'd chose for the worst weather ,it is warm but its not something I'd used in the summer and depends on what u wear under..
I used the pintail explorer for any other weather apart from when it's warm and that works well too.. its by no means 100 % waterproof but stands up to the average rain and nice n light n breathable
