Rifle scopes with rail ?????

Happy new year to all!
This is something new to me but recently I see it more often offered in many scopes. So my question is, how it works? Does a scope with integrated rail can be mounted on conventional action said Tikka t3x? If yes, what sort of mounts needed (available), pros and cons?
Thanks

Nothing better than a rail mounted scope !
No ring stress or marking on the tube and always sits perpendicular on the rifle, no faffing about with alignment.
Is more a European thing and all the big players are ofering scopes in this configuration (Zeiss, Swarovsky, Schmidt and Bender, Leica, Blaser, just to name a few)
I can't speak about mounting one on a Tikka , as i'm using proprietary Blaser and Sauer mounts, on the same rifles.
I never had a ring mounted scope on a centerfire in over 30 years...

Thanks Shootgun,I am thinking in the same direction but I am not able to find (Google search) any mounts allowing to fit railed scope to tikka or other non European actions. But then even if there's any they probably will be crazy priced

Another +1 for rail mounted !

My previous rifles were ring mounted, having now used the rail mounted system, I wouldn’t ever go back !

I use both Zeiss zm vm rail and Swarovski SR rail, they are easy to mount the scope and the scope is always perfectly aligned. You just sight it in and never ever worry about it again. Puts no stress and no ring marks on the scope so leave the scopes in better resale condition.
The only downside is that with some mounts the scope sits considerably higher than it would with ring mounts but not all. Pivot swing mounts are an example of this. But with modern mounts like Blaser mount the scope is mounted nice and low even when using railed models.
Check OpticsTrade.com for appropriate mounts for your rifle. All european brands make rail mounts for most rifles.

Not a new idea but an excellent idea. Although personally I don't like them and prefer any "rail" to be on the rifle such as the BRNO type or Ruger's excellent half circle design on the old Model 77 Ruger.

All this new technology in 'scopes yet in most cases we attach 'scopes to our rifles using fittings resembling those used on medieval gutter down pipes on castles from the time of William the Conqueror.

over to rail mounted scopes 20 years ago, I would Always make them my choice where available, now got 5 of them 😊👍👍

Never had a problem with the two on my blasers so easy to set up and as said previously no faffing about rails just work on blasers, I had in the past tried most types of mounts etc but rail type are brilliant and a great mounting system
