RL15 for 6.5CM

I'm going to start reloading for my 6.5CM and I have the chance of some RL15, does anyone on here use this for powder for their Creedmore, I know there is probably better powders out there but like I say I have the chance of this particular one so thought I would ask the masses on here, I will be using Hornady brass and Barnes 100gr TTSX, I'm not after data unless of course someone would like to offer :).

Cheers

In both the Seirra 6th edition manual and the Nosler 9th edition manual RL 15 is listed as the most accurate powder for their respective 100 grain bullets.
Be aware that neither of these were copper bullets but I think you are on the right track.

My experience with RL 15 is in my wife's Cooper 250 Savage AI with 100 grain Sierra GK bullets and it is excellent. The only draw back is it tends to leave quite a bit of carbon in the barrel.

PM me if you would like me to send the load data from the manuals.

Jeez were the heck did you get the RL15 from??

I used to use it for .308 Win and .223 Rem, its an excellent powder so should work just fine in the 6.5CM.

Both those cartridges typically use faster powder than those generally used for creedmoor, though it should be ok for lighter 6.5 bullets

I wouldn’t start development if there’s only a couple of tubs available as you may struggle to get more once they run out.
I see where your coming from but for how many rounds I go through 1 tub will keep me going for quite a while, I'll develop a new round if or when I run out

You'll find some load data I used for 102g Yew Tree bullets using RL15 which seemed to be the best sort of powder for a 20" Cr according to Quickload. I'll attach the data below.

Looks like it might be on hold for a bit anyway, Powder doesn't seem to be the issue but LR primers, Wow, How hard are they to source at the minute :)

Yeah thinking about it it would work well for the lighter 6.5 bullets due to the pressure spike/curve over the powder, though for the 77g SMK loaded in 223 rem and and 155g SMK in 308 Win RL15 was a tack driver, winning me many CSR and tactical matches over there years when you could get hold of it; however now using N140 for those loadings.
