Roe Buck being eaten alive poor tyke

Looks like a peruke that the maggots have got into. Great that you put it out its misery.

Good job well done. Certainly looks like a peruke with fly strike. Did you check the back end to see if he had sustained damage?

Right haunch looks very weak in first pic(?) but the tackle area is where the damage must've occurred to produce the perruque. Well done to end the suffering.

I was looking at some of these at my dealer. Worth more than a few quid if it can be saved.

I would not believe some of those that are saved until I had seen it, even if they have a good dose of resin.

A keeper friend spotted it and called me out because he wanted to keep an eye on it incase it moved, and it was also quicker for me to get there than for him to go home and get his rifle.

Neither of us had any thoughts as to trophy, just HAD.

Though after I had shot it he couldn't resist saying that he hadn't worked out how much to charge me for it...cheeky bugger...he was joking! :)

Though now it's dead it would be silly not to consider the value of the head though...does any body have advice as to the best way to preserve/capitalise on it that I can pass on to him?

Alan

Leave the head in the fridge for the wife to deal with later. You don't want to get yourself all icky...

The Forum software Reaction options failed me...I could do with icons representing "Yeah right, let's see you try that first" and "what sort of idiot risks either upsetting or getting icky, the hand that feeds it?"

Any other advice? :)

Hanging up in the barn in an open carrier bag with a hole in the bottom over a bucket at the moment.
