Roe rut possibly starting?

It’s really early, but everything in my garden is weeks ahead of where it should be as well.

There’s been some thundery weather lately too, which can kick rutting off,… possible, yes, widespread, doubtfully.

Give it another 10 days IMHO.

There’s always the chance it’s a younger buck trying to sneak a quick one in there, that ‘does’ happen and isn’t representative of the rut. It happens in human life too 😂

Out Saturday saw to buck fighting and then watched a buck following a doe real close got a phone call from a mate 200 miles away and he was watching a doe and buck hard at it. Must be the weather its the earliest i have ever known. I have took the first week in August off work i hope its still running then :tiphat:

I seen chasing about shy of two weeks ago now If I were to guess off the top of my head? obviously not actual rutting but a buck trying its luck, It was quite neat watching them chase each other in rings.

Another buck I've watched for the better part of four months now has finally moved from his core 100x100m area of a little tiny section of clear cut woodland too over 900 meters away across several fields and a road to join up with a doe that he resided with before she had kids, there for sure starting to keep tabs on things now

Haven't had any success in calling but we've also not really been up close to any deer that have required it in the better part of two weeks

To date the earliest date I’ve called in a Roe buck is July 26th but I will probably try some calling later this week and see what, happens and if there’s any observable indications that rutting is underway.

Not actually a buck we've seen before, came out from bracken full sprint chasing something we never saw calmed down a bit and made his way towards us.
Pictures dont do him justice huge body and really heavy antlers, I'm actually really not sure what he'd weigh doubt Its medal but Its a fantastic deer regardless.

Never really get to admire deer shot late evening Its bang flop, quick look, drag back, drive home, get it hung, then get driven home within an hour of initially spotting him I'm already back home

I still suspect it’s off a bit yet. Seeing does without bucks and everything feels quiet. Did see a young buck a few weeks ago trying his luck but that’s about it.

Mind you, it could maybe all change overnight?

Is anyone having any luck with the call yet? I know it seems early but I’ve heard of bucks coming in even earlier than now,(possibly more an aggression response).

I saw a buck chasing a doe hard last night in Aberdeenshire with plenty of sign of chasing in the foliage so think it’s just starting (slightly early for us maybe due to the hot weather). It was late on just before last light and seems to be very quiet in the morning at the minute as haven’t seen anything for days when walking the dog which is unusual.
