Roof tents.....?

Thabks Chris, yeah I’ve not seen anything in that price range. There are a couple Ventura deluxe for £800 there ex demo ones.

Hi have a look on the Frence website BON COIN, type in tente au toit and you should find some second hand ones, i paid 700euro's for mine, the best time to buy is in the autumn.

They're a good product, but you have to remember as you bathe in an Australian summer, it p***s it down in Scotland, it's cold, it snows, blows a hoolie and nice light flysheet material tents just don't really work. I took mine down to the Sahara and frankly could have slept out in a hammock, but when back stalking in Scotland it was -9 and snowing like a scene from the Lion, the witch and the cupboard under the stairs. You really need a heavier fabric in the UK.

I dont have one but will get the lads to ask about if they know anyone that wants to offer an opinion on the brand. I have a three unrelated bits from that Co. and it is all very good, tough and cheap too.

I've been looking at the James Baroud ones and think they would be fantastic for a few days away stalking. I used to sleep in the motor before but just can't do it these days. I can see the need for a good awning too though, pretty tough going trying to get into yer hunting gear if ****in it down.

Which is where some of the fold out tents score. Effectively they have a porch and you can sit at the top, under cover and put your boots on using the ladder. It's tough but there simply isn't a best answer. The best answer moves with where you are and what you're doing at the time. That's why I have two RTTs and 12 ground tents.

One word. Flimsy.

That is I'm afraid why decent ones are twice that price. As I've already said, those are just plastic roof boxes. A JB is fibreglass. You'd put your knee through that. I note that the gentleman doesn't actually get in it. I'd pay to see that.
