RPA 'Trakker' Iron Sights

Hi all,

Trawling the interweb doing some browsing on the US Army M24 weapons system (think long action Rem 700 but shooting 7.62 Nato, long action just in case they wanted/needed to swap to 300 Win Mag ;) ) and came up with something interesting. See here for original thread: Army M24 Build Guide - M40rifle.com

You can buy one off the shelf from Remington Defence (Not the now bankrupt Remington Arms) and not a US Army return-rebuild (which go for silly money) but a working replica.

The early M24's (of the approx 15,000 produced) came with Redfield Globe competition sights. After Redfield went south the iron sights dried up so a new supplier was found, RPA of the UK!

The M24's inclusion of iron sights is/was somewhat questionable (a feature that has now been deleted on all current US Army platforms) but I found it fascinating that the US Army/Remington were sourcing stuff directly from RPA in the UK at one point.

Not in the market for these but the Americans are happy to pay £300 for parts to go on their M24 clones, RPA still list them but no prices: RPA Sights | RPA Defence

Not found a mention of the M24 on their sight (maybe contractual) but I would have thought it would be something to be very proud of!

Hope someone else found that to be interesting!

Not sure why there are no prices on RPA's site - perhaps they don't retail that line of sights themselves.

Here, though: RPA Trakker Sights - HPS Target Rifles Limited

They feature heavily on the rifles of the people who usually beat me in target-rifle matches; often paired with the ladder-foresights, which allow the same hold/cheek-weld to be used at 1000+yds as at 300yds.

Should have gone to Warner sights when they were being made

Best dipotre rearsight ever made.

RPA/Paramount/Swing had a nasty habit of using any old part and a lot were from quite mild steel and probe to backlash. They made a tidy sum from sight servicing.

must have been an old sight as they are not made of mild steel anymore not at least for the last 8 years anyway.

All the RPA Trakker sights I have (36) are good quality and not made of poor steel and all easily adjusted to remove backlash.

The paramount sights are quite good as well some of the Swing ones not so much.

The paramount sight as the forerunner to the RPA Trakkers but the difference is marked.

the new sight on the market by Tom Rylands is outstanding and an improvement again.
