RSPB cats and prey - 100m dead annually

Call me a coward but, in the same way that the RSPB have avoided this issue, so should our community in my opinion.

Taking on UK cat-owners would do for us what opening a second front in the East did for the Germans.

It would definitely make you unpopular and I wouldn't recommend it . That being said , people who own cats should be made aware of the impact on bird , and other small animal , populations that free roaming cats have . I don't have a problem with anyone owning any pet , but I don't think it's too much to ask for them to be responsible for them .
It's funny how the more rabid animal rights groups in the UK have completely ignored this issue . They may be unhinged , but they're not stupid .

I agree. They should be made aware. However, someone more popular than us should tell 'em...:D

What amuses me (not) is that half of the people who own and love their cats are rapid anti blood sports and yet seem to accept without any qualms when their precious tiddles decimates the local wildlife within hundreds of yards of their home. It wouldn't be so bad if the damn things killed their prey quickly but they usually torture it cruelly without any mercy.
I really cannot see why society just seems to accept that it is OK for cats to roam wherever they want whenever they want - I'd like to see them kept under control at all times like any other pet.
