Does anybody have a Ruger 10/22 WMR Semi Auto?
had mine over a year or so and find it a little Gem.
took it to Calton moor before lockdown and Mike said he had never seen one before and i am sure hes seen many more rifles than me but his words were its an accurate little f**cker isn't it
just wondered if anybody else has one and the thoughts around them are???

Did you buy it second hand? My understanding was that Ruger only made the .22 WMR version for a few years and that it was discontinued.

You must have gotten lucky, because the only one I’ve ever come across wasn’t even worth using as a club. Terrible.

However, the Magnum Research version that I’ve written about on here before is a fantastic wee rifle and deadly accurate.

You don’t see many of these about. I tried to source one some years back but ended up going 17HMR instead. I often wonder if I should have held on for one of these for Fox and longer range vermin. Do you reckon they’re better than a .22LR using mini mags or 17HMR?

yes second hand Dk I did read about the action splitting due to pressure i removed the metal stop and replaced with a 10/22 plastic but this snapped so i molded plastic just behind the plastic pin and this seams to be holding up so happy days around +-1"moa it like the 40gr so this is what it will be given 👍
i did look at the research at the time i have changed the wood stock for a Hogue in green fleck, had to get this imported. Really wouldn't ever want to loose this
ill post some photos when possible

Koenig i have both .22lr and 22wmr the 22wmr is far more accurate although i only use sub sonic segmented with the LR so this may make a difference?? and can not give an informed opinion
i have a slot for a 17hmr but dont have one as yet
just deciding what i should do as i have 243 & 308 but due to the lockdown i have managed to get topside of the Business and thinking of treating my self to a blazer R8 Ultimate adjustable in either 308 or 243 or both as i should have more time to do the things i have missed out on for so long but will never get rid of the wmr no matter what other rifles i have or get.
Don't know if that answers your question :-| :)

I know someone who owned a Ruger 10/22 WMR or at least he did at one time. He had it for a specific purpose and it shot quite well. It was the only one that I have ever seen and I believe that the model was short lived and soon discontinued by Ruger, possibly they had similar problems with it as they had with the .17HMR version that they developed.

I did read before buying that there were issues with the rifle so was very dubious, but possibly got a good one?
i like to have strange /odd things so happy to have this and its a bonus it shoots well i did contact m9 Engineering that is not to far away to copy all the parts so i could replace if anything happens as a fail safe just not got round to calling to see Nick at this point so going to make sure i go as soon as possible to ensure i can shoot to all day long with this and pass to the little ones

m9 is Magic 9 Engineering he might be able to help others on this site can't give personal recommendation but was given details form a RFD who spoke very highly??

Interesting thread . I've seen exactly one of these . It belongs to my hunting partners nephew . He loves his and has nothing but good things to say about it . It is a very accurate rifle with ammo it likes and is effective out past 100 yards on ground squirrels ( gophers ) . I have heard about problems with this model , none first hand though . I've always thought a semi auto 22WMR would make for a very useful general purpose "around the homestead " rifle , unfortunately , they're few and far between . I guess I'll stick to my Savage bolt action in 22WMR for now , to be honest , it does pretty much everything I need to do , but I'd still like one in semi auto .

Then you need one of these @alberta boy. The one I’ve used is “owned” by a girl who will be 15-16 now, a young huntress of note. Once she’d proven herself she was given this rifle by her father, and she now provides most of the venison for the family (fallow). There was something about there being a maximum weight limit on the bullets you could shoot under warranty - stipulated by the factory - but I can’t remember what that was all about. Didn’t matter though, it was a laser.

Magnum Research

There was word that the bolts can crack. Possibly due the the steel bolt stop!
There is one for sale in Shropshire, very expensive!
I'm glad you improved the bolt stop and have a good one.
I would love to have the Marlin, they are a proper designed action. Not a 22lr action.

One on guntrader at the mo that I am considering

I'm looking at a CZ 512 in 22 WMR, not the tactical, couple of youtube vids show acceptable accuracy and easy breakdown for cleaning. With SGC now UK distributors for CZ that will help me being so local.
