S&B scope advice

I’ve just bought this scope from another SD member, and it’s my first Schmidt and Bender.

Can someone tell me if the turrets have ‘zero reset’ on them please.
I’m looking at the small cross head screw in the turret and thinking if I loosen that will the turret pull up and allow me to align the dot with my new zero. Tempted to try, but just in case there’s a load of exploding springs and followed by a very unhappy owner, I thought I’d just ask the question.

Thanking you in anticipation of your helpful replies…..

No, don't do that. The arrow indicates the deviation from the centre of adjustment available in the scope.

S&B info:

Posicon turret adjustments (position control) are color-coded and enable you to identify the reticle position within the riflescope at a glance. With the position indicator in the green range, the reticle is inside the ideal adjustment range. This eliminates any possibility of binding the adjustment within the scope body while zeroing. The red range serves as a warning: this reserve precludes the use of the full range of adjustment in the opposing adjustment’s direction (e.g., elevation vs. windage travel adjustment). The point of impact is moved by 1cm on 100 m on every click. A too low point of impact (POI) is corrected by rotating the elevation turret clockwise towards the letter H or U (stands for UP). If the POI is too high the turret has to be turned towards letter T or D (stands for DOWN). After the rifle has been sighted in, the silver perimeter ring, with an index mark, can be rotated to serve as a zero indicator. The Posicon turret adjustment is a unique Schmidt & Bender feature and reflects our superb engineering and quality standards. Available for most of our hunting riflescopes.

No.

As Malxwal. It shows you how much adjustment you have available in each direction.

Your elevation as in that photo is about right. Showing you've still got plenty of elevation up.

Your windage should be closer to the middle mark - you can use it to diagnose any issues with your scope mounting. My rifle has Leupold 2 piece mounts, where you can set windage on the back mount. The gauge on the scope helped identify that I'd not adjusted the windage on the mounts correctly, as I was using up most of my left correction just to get to zero.

On my S&B i have taken a fine sharpie maker and drawn a wee line at my Zero mark. I have also added another at the distance of 500 so its zeroed on the long club range.

The early military Accuracy International sniper rifles were fitted with S&B 6x42 and 10x42‘s. It looks like the simply enscribed the different ranges with markers on the turret and threw away the turret cap.
