Hi all, Im after some advice.

Ive been offered a Sako 75 Finnlight in .308 and was wondering if anyone on here had experience with them? I understand they are an older rifle, but still very reliable. Any reviews or information would be much appreciated 👍🏻

I had one in .243 and another in 300WSM. Loved them both even if the 300 was brutal in such a light weight rifle. I’d did find the bolt lock key thing a bit of a nuisance but the rifles were great.

I only moved them on because I was finding I liked a slightly heavier barrel.

If the barrel is sound get it bought, better made than most newer rifles nowadays, I just bought a new tikka t3x , but my sako 75 is far better made, you won't beat the detachable Box magazine, better than the polymer stuff nowadays in my opinion

I have had 2, 25-06 and a 308. Still have the former, wish I still had the latter. Moment of madness. One of the finest factory stalking rifles of all time.

Lightweight fluted barrel, legendary sako 75 action-3 position safety that locks the bolt, 5 round steel magazine-easy to top load when taking numbers. Crisp trigger. Bolt safety lock-ignore it. I’ve had these rifles for 2 decades and never given it a thought.

Downsides are, as name suggests it’s light so in 308 it’ll be a little snappy (nothing to the 300wsm as above 🫣), but it certainly won’t be a range gun. Short barrels, in .308 that won’t be an issue, but certain long action calibres it will reduce performance. It’s old! Not an issue if a safe queen, but if it’s been used frequently and not cared for then it might be very tired.

My advice, get it checked by a competent gunsmith, if they give thumbs up, bite the buyers hand off-and if you look after it your grand kids will be shooting it.

I have two Sako 75's, one in 222 and one in 30-06. Both are old, and I bought them both second hand (at least three hand if not fourth hand for the 222 ). They are superbly accurate. My best 100 yard 222 group is 0.232", and my best 30-06 group is 0.266". They are pure quality, and I would thoroughly recommend a Sako 75 to you.

I’ve had a Finnlight .25-06 from new. It’s excellent but if you want a range tool look elsewhere. What you save in carried weight you loose in rapid barrel heating.

I have had a 75 FL for probably 25 years i .243 and it's as good now as it was when first purchased it great rifle. I mainly use it for fox and summer roe, when the fallow are in season I switch to another rifle. light, looks good and is just a great well made rifle. Tip, if it still has the locking security key make sure it's not locked and then throw the key away.

Just remember its an older gun , meaning parts can be slow to find . now i say this as a man with quite a few older rifles including two 75 Sako indeed the older one was a first batch .
I don't think they improved anything much at all over the later years
