I have had 2, 25-06 and a 308. Still have the former, wish I still had the latter. Moment of madness. One of the finest factory stalking rifles of all time.
Lightweight fluted barrel, legendary sako 75 action-3 position safety that locks the bolt, 5 round steel magazine-easy to top load when taking numbers. Crisp trigger. Bolt safety lock-ignore it. I’ve had these rifles for 2 decades and never given it a thought.
Downsides are, as name suggests it’s light so in 308 it’ll be a little snappy (nothing to the 300wsm as above

), but it certainly won’t be a range gun. Short barrels, in .308 that won’t be an issue, but certain long action calibres it will reduce performance. It’s old! Not an issue if a safe queen, but if it’s been used frequently and not cared for then it might be very tired.
My advice, get it checked by a competent gunsmith, if they give thumbs up, bite the buyers hand off-and if you look after it your grand kids will be shooting it.
