hi there,
Just wonder If anyone has got and uses the Bix n Andy’s Dakota trigger for there Sako 85?
Or have any other suggestions on how to make the factor trigger lighter?
Cheers

Back out the grub screw accessed through the mag well. Mine is at a very acceptable weight with factory spring. You can replace the spring with the aftermarket springs sold for Tikka’s. By no means are talking trigger tech diamond level of feel but great for a sporting rifle.

Thanks for your reply, I have actually done of all what you have suggested, but it just isn’t lighter enough for me as my other rifles have custom triggers in them, so I am probably going to have to invest in a Bix n Andy at some point.

I’ve got 2 - 85’s, factory trigger as standard should allow you to back off the adjustment grub screw to get you down to 1-1/2 lbs, I’ve run a file over the top edge of the grub screw which now gives me 3/4 lb.

Does it pass the slam test and drop test? When I eased my 85 off to close to 1lb with the grub screw I could force negligent discharge. I took it up to 1-3/4lbs and it became bomb proof. Still light enough for me to “just think fire.” I’ve no experience with after market triggers for the 85.

How light do you want it?
Far better idea to polish and tune the factory model for a sensible break on a stalking rifle

Super light triggers are a nightmare in the field and seen as “better” when actually a clean break at sensible weight is better

One rifle is nearly 15 years old the other is 10 years old, one rifle has had 2 changes of calibre (re-barrelled twice) between the 2 of them I would imagine in excess of 5000 rounds, neither has accidentally discharged and yes I bounced both of them around before I considered taking them out into the field.
