Sako A7 replacement stock

Does anyone know how I can get hold of something like a Bell and Carlson stock for a sako A7 short action, in the UK?

Current composite stock has for some reason turned to glue, but the rifle is still amazingly accurate, so don’t want to get rid. It’s a lightweight and simple stalking setup at the moment, so not interested in GRS etc.

Cheers

I can’t be sure but Prophet River Firearms in Canada may export Bell & Carlson. Alternatively, as it looks like you may have a New Zealand connection from your signature, you could try contacting Simon Berger of Senator Rifle Stocks who I think inlets for the A7.

Cheers Tim, will look into both of those.

Hello

I don't know whether your sorted now,

But the Sako A7 Roughtech Pro stock I would of thought would fit the sporter weight barrel of the standard A7,

That's a non rubberised style stock, with an alu bedding block running all the way through.

Brownells import the Bell & Carlson stocks don't they for the UK or am I mistaken ?

GRS also do a replacement sporter stock for the standard SAKO A7 that's an option if your open to it ?

Probably a lot quicker than B&C coming from the USA, unless your after synthetic stock specifically

Ah yeah hadn't thought of the roughtec stock! Would probably fit, if I can track one down. Had no luck with the other two importers, so will give Brownells a shout as well., though think thier prices might be eye watering.

Cheers

I think GMK would be your best bet theres probably some lying around somewhere forgotten about at either their location or more likely at SAKO's factory,

I'll admit the one downside with the rifle standard or roughtech was the supplied bases but apart from that once you've got a solid picatinny rail or another mount
in place of those, the rifle is great of the couple i've had over the years all shot factory ammo really well, best group i've ever seen was in 243.

Federal Sierra 85gr BTHP was 0.2" @ 100yd or thereabouts jaw dropping accuracy and it would shoot every other loading 0.3-0.8" that I put through it
from 58gr to 100's.

I'd rather have one of the A7's in standard/roughtech pro format than the S20, build quality far better bolt, action etc

Some people have had magazine problems but I haven’t in my 308 have you experienced any problems

I haven't had any issues yet 🤞 stocked up on a spare magazine, I know of one place that has some in used at like £35 or £40 for 243/7mm08/308

what's accuracy of your 308 like must make for a nice portable and pointable stalking rifle,

I went with the roughtech pro in 243 barrel length is 24" but max velocity and all, there are still some of the pro's about new mainly in 308 or 243,
hard to find them on the uk market in 270 or 30-06 like hens teeth,

If I end up ever getting another cartridge for larger species sika/red and boar it would be another A7 in 308, 270 or 30-06

I’m using 125 grain reloads 25mm groups at 130 yards get the odd flyer goes 70 mm but not often

very nice spot on that 👍

i've just ran this one with 100gr and 105 gr's, likes RWS 100's the most 20-25mm groups at tunnel range,
GECO 105's, Norma Whitetail 100gr and federal 100gr are about 0.3/0.4" thereabouts strangely it doesn't like the sako softpoints as much both 90gr and 100gr are about 1.25"

then again it didn't like the 95gr sst's from hornady but would shoot the 95gr accutips far better, guess the long tipped bullets it doesnt like
but stubby shorter soft points 👍

Have you tried Federal 95g I use them in my sako 243

the fusions? one guy I know who lives up the scots borders way, swears by them and everyone i've spoken to in past always had good things to say about them
not matter what rifle cartridge they are loaded in. I will give them a go when I can

I've watched a few tests done by a guy in the USA and every cartridge he ran the ballistics gel tests on with the fusions they were stellar performers
