Sako Powerhead blades

So my local stockists eventually got some 6.5x55 Sako Powerhead Blades 120g for me, just had a quick plink with them and results through my Sako 85 are pleasing. Now to get out and try on live quarry.DSC_0247.webp

Been using them in 308 for a while. They are the best lead free I’ve used to date.
Any details on cartridge, bullet weight, mv, quarry, range, poi, carcase damage?
Genuinely interested

Never got to try them personally as we were only given two boxes in two cartridges from our order.
Velocity and bullet weight option in .308 worries me slightly as they are 167gr or something similar and only pushing 2650-2700fps

Fine if you are shooting running pigs in germany but a 200m+ roe in the chest is a different situation

So far Roe, muntjac and fox from 60yds to 130yds behaves faultlessly with expansion very similar to lead based (expanded well on a fox at 70yds too)

Only 162gn available in 308 and chronoed on my 75 at 2600fps using a magnetospeed. I’ve heard tell that further offerings will be coming including projectiles for reloading and a 243 option.

Accuracy is about 1/2 MOA if you do your bit.

Overall I can’t fault them.

I purchased a box and tried some at Bisley, my .308 grouped OK with them. I am hoping to try them on deer this weekend hopefully.

I've used them in 308, accuracy good but all neck/head shots so can't offer much in way of an opinion regarding expansion etc but I can confirm they were all dead

I found they pencilled through muntjac but we’re ok on roe. Not a big sample size and soft point lead can do similar. Overall I’d say an ok replacement and shoot better than other copper I’ve tried since my Sauer. £50+ a box for me!

Try RWS Evo Green. YouTube and general Google will explain the bullet better than me, but it’s a smart design. Used them in 136 and 139 gr .308 and now 93gr 6.5 CM. Few years (150 + animals) of use now and apart from shooter errors no issues. Fox, muntjac, roe, fallow, boar and reds with the .308. 6.5 is new to me this year so only roe so far. Will run the 6.5 93gr stuff through into the fallow season to see how that goes.
