Sako S90

I am currently using a Howa 1500 in 308 and I’ve been looking to change to a lighter field rifle for stalking.
I’ve been looking around to see what’s on the market and I like the look of the Sako S90 but I don’t know anyone that runs one.
Is there anyone with first hand knowledge of the rifle and how it’s run for you?

It depends if you mean the Sako 90 or the Sako S 20.

I have a Sako 90 in 22-250, it is a great rifle. Light, shoots well, Comes to the shoulder easily, works well from a bipod or sticks. The built in rail for scope mounting makes life easier.

No real complaints with it at all, I am however selling it. I want all my rifles in a similar configuration, I like a heavy chasis rifle which is counterintuitive for most, I plan on changing to a Tikka Ace, only if my sako sells quickly enough to look at the one listed in the classifieds.

Should have added mine is the adventure model.

Sako 90 Peak in .243 Win.

Lightweight, portable, pointable, smooth operation & cycling, very accurate with nothing fancy sitting on the machined in pic rails but a straightforward lightweight Hawke Vantage 30 3-9x42 but.....

Hates 100grn PPU however it does like 90grn from the same manufacturer and also 100grn & 90grn Sako Gamehead.

Would like to know the answer to this as well OP, since I am looking at a Sako 90 finnlight as my new go to stalking rifle.

I have a Sako 90 adventure and have shot the Finnlight. The adventure and the carbon one are a little more polished. The finnlight is a nice rifle, I shot a demo rifle on steel which performed well.
I have seen some reviews which show some accuracy concerns. However the rifle likely needed shot in.

Would you say the increase in price is worth it for the adventure over the finnlight then? Because the only other option Ive considered is getting a tikka t3x, and putting it in a PSE stock, but the stock I like is very similar to the finnlight/adventure one
I think I have seen some of those same reviews as well, particularly in Oz and NZ where the rifle got released a bit earlier it looks like they had some bad ones, It did put me off, but since I would be buying brand new would hope customer service would sort it if it ever was the case.

I think the finnlight would be a good buy, I am at another demo day on the 26/27th of this month and plan to have a good look at the rifle. I like my adventure, but currently have it for sale as I plan on all rifles being a chasis platform. I think either will likely shoot very well. It is the same reviews, hopefully someone who has owned one and put it through some use will comment an owners perspective.

I have a Sako 90 varmint stainless laminated in 6.5 CM and regularly shoot it accurately to 1000m - I won’t be selling it, even though it is a little heavy.

I’ve a 90 quest in 6.5CM, nice rifle with a few nice touches like adjustable trigger etc but for me the big thing is the adjustable carbon stock, it’s just a work of art and a pleasure to use 👍🏻
