The more that comes out about this case, the nastier she appears. I had some sympathy for her when the case first came to light, but as more detail is released she just appears to be an intolerant and bigoted racist. Two sides to every story I know, but she just seems to be thoroughly unpleasant.

As soon as one side of the argument plays the "waaaaaycist!" card, you know that they're losing.

"Sandie Peggie – the nurse who bravely stood up to NHS Fife and Dr Beth Upton, the male, transgender-identifying colleague she was expected to undress in front of at work – has a new fight on her hands.

As we now know, managers at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy, rather than defending Peggie’s right to a single-sex space, accused her of bullying Upton. The basis for this claim rested on Peggie’s refusal, on Christmas Eve 2023, to take care of her period in the women’s changing area in front of him. Disregarding Peggie’s 30 years of unblemished service, NHS Fife suspended her from her post. Last week, an 18-month internal investigation cleared her of the accusations."

It's not really about whether Peggie is a decent person, it's about the gender mess forced on us by a regime of idiocy and incompetence.
That's for sure!

As I said though, two sides to every story, and the truth lies somewhere in the middle. I've met her type before though, and regardless of the actual case itself, she still doesn't come across as anything other than thoroughly unlikable 🤔

Reading the article it sounds like she forwarded a single message containing several jokes, many of them racist and which I personally find distateful given the topic even if some are witty. I know several people who would find them hilarious. I also think thoughtlessly forwarding messages happens fairly often

However, that point is irrelevant to the issue at hand- as above, this is all about trying to malign her character to reduce sympathy. Very few people are truly deserving of sympathy, that doesn’t mean she doesn't have a point in the current case.

I struggle to understand that. I receive a fair few messages that I don't find amusing, regardless how witty. I wouldn't dream of forwarding them on. Maybe the issue is with me? 🤔

No, I'm the same. I just think we're unusual in not finding humour in everything that others seem to deem acceptable and also in then thinking before sharing. I try to use the principle that everything comes to light eventually and so whatever you say should be something you'd be prepared to stand by (or if your view changes, to apologise for) in public.

There are also some things I receive which I find amusing but still wouldn't share. A bit like whilst I'd like people to generally be more comfortable with shooting, I don't tend to shove images of dead animals in their faces.

Absolutely agree. Think we're pretty much on the same page there 👍

Thinking something or discussing it with like minded people outside of work is one thing ... putting it in writing or discussing it where it may cause offence is completely different.

Work is very PC these days and on that basis we need to think about how we "express" certain views.

The same is very true of posting things online...and the trouble that gets people into :)

I think there are a lot of people on this site who wouldn't dream of making comments at their place of work or in a public arena that are posted on here.... We all have an inside voice and a "public" voice and if you think you're in company that you're comfortable with, your jokes and conversation may be different that when you have your work head on.
The crux of the whole NHS Fife fiasco is that a male doctor, who is still married to his wife and is physically still male in every way - used to play rugby and wore a beard, qualified as a male doctor and then suddenly decided he was going to pretend to be a woman. Sadly, because we're lead by clowns who've fallen for this trans gender drivel, it is the fault of the female nurse for daring to point out the stupidity of the situation. One of the snide comments that didn't get reported on was the male doctor turned around and said who would believe a mere nurse as opposed to a doctor.....
And why was the nurse suspended and not the doctor while the inquiry was taking place.

I didn't know that! I think she was quite right to challenge why 'the person' was there, and didn't deserve the witchhunt that followed. It certainly shows why some people should be a lot more circumspect about what they say, to whom they say it, and the medium they use.
