I fish for Salmon from opening day until close of season having several weeks a season + lots of single days on my local rivers the Deveron, Spey and Dee. Now I know we can't have it both ways, but to me the lesser of the two evils would be the farming and I do know the amount of damage they do, but indiscriminately slaughtering Salmon in nets these days just should not be allowed, regardless if by license or charter or what ever. They have enough to contend with, ie mortality at sea, seals etc etc.
I take 1 or 2 fish per season at most and these are ones that are usually deeply hooked. With all the effort that has gone into the conservation of this magnificent species it's just another kick in the b*lls, a lot of fishermen will think what is the point of C&R if they are slaughtering them in the nets a few miles away.
