I’ve got an S&B pm11 second focal plane that I’m about to put up for sale, I’ve got a replacement rubber eyepiece for the one that’s on it (the existing one has a tiny nick in the rubber) trouble is I can’t get the ring off and I don’t know if it’s left or right hand thread. Has anyone replaced theirs?
Thanks in advance

The rubber rings that adjust the magnification are stretched over, do not try unscrewing anything, the rubber is glued into two channels around the eyepiece. . If the focus adjustment will not move then it may have an issue. The replacement is tricky but achievable

No mate I don’t mean the magnification rubber I mean the rubber outer edge of the eyepiece I’ve got replacements but I can’t unscrew it and I can’t tell if it’s left or right hand thread.

Put a photo up for clarity. But if it’s a rubber O ring I’m pretty sure you don’t want to be unscrewing the eye piece. It may allow the nitrogen to escape and condensation to enter.

The rubber bit will pull off but the factory glue is good. You will need to scrape out any debris before putting the new one in

With my PM11 12-50, I sent it back to Schmidt as I think it’s moulded on and can only be done properly at the factory.
Speak to Schmidt and confirm with them first, before trying anything yourself
