Daft question but here goes - What is the benefit of an extending cone from the objective lens - rifle scope? I have seen pictures which show an extension in front of the scope. Does this concentrate the eye on a smaller FOV which I expect would be better for target shooting? Does it reduce the amount of light to the objective lens? Would one use one for game hunting or does it hinder quick target acquisition?
