scratched on snare

Sorry but you shouldn't have released it. Old foxes, young foxes, would you let a young rat free from a cage trap?

Different cultures, different countries, the U.K. could learn a lot from some European countries about respecting foxes a little more, if they don’t have mass release of game birds or lots of sheep farming, perhaps there isn’t the need, fair play to him for releasing the non target bycatch. Respect.

The guy just let a fox go, he's in Portugal ,don't get yer knickers bunched up about it, does it really affect anyone here?? Take care of that hand ileso.:thumb:

+1, the same as I won't shoot foxs if there's no need, well I won't shoot anything If there's no need for it, someone on here said recently you need to thinking a reason to why you must take this animals life, that's my look on it. Il happily sit and watch foxs, especially when I can see them with there cubs playing and running. Why kill them if you don't HAVE to?

Did your cut get infected with the foxes blood if any?

Did the fox lick the cut? Touching something a fox has touched with a cut finger won't make a different. Been bitten by foxes and washed it and carried on with my life. Don't worry.

not sure, its not infected in any way.. looks normal. the pit that poked me was around its neck so it dig into fur and neck etc for sure. I had taken the gloves off to reload the snare, wont do that again in future. anyway gonna go get a precautionary jab.

as for the ins and outs of whether I was right or wrong, i understand both positions of the argument. Foxes are necessary, too many can be a problem, and they definitely are not in decline judging from all the screaming I hear at night, but I enjoy hunting them with hounds so I dont kill any out of the season unless they misbehave. I am pretty sure this one will not be back any time soon either, I gave it a good scare and some pokes with a stick so it would learn its not welcome. I have a bigger problem with feral cats and genets than with foxes.

cheers for the comments guys.
