FAC second time lucky

Hi All, a few months ago I was told to withdraw my Firearms certificate application as it was going to get refused on the grounds of having (Not enough Experience) since then i have been out a number of times and even secured a syndicate ground that the lease holder would like me to manage the Deer, and vermin on it after gaining MY FAC. I have went and reapplied and sent my form back in along with a copy of my DSC 1, Basc membership and insurance details. Syndicate ground details and maps and a letter from the lease holder stating the contract between us and how he would like me to manage it when I get my FAC. This is all good however, their is another little wrinkle to it 🤦 when I got the medical proforma form it was filled out by another doctor and she had ticked a box that may cause an issue, my last doctor ticked no on the last one but this doctor it all for the cute little furry animals lol. Anyway I have ischemic heart disease but it is under control and am on medications for it, this wasn't mentioned in my last medical when I had the visit but was declared on the sheet with all my meds as is this one, should I be worried that the doctor marked this question with a yes, as my last doctor marked it with a no. 1000020633.webp

Take it up with the doctor..I did that when I wasn't in agreement with what they put. A lot of conditions or illnesses don't really fit in to the category they put.

Btw FAC should not be refused on experience. (Being an FEO should be though!)
I have the original doctors proforma a photo copied from the first application, so if anything is said I will revert back to it and show them my last doctor said no. The ford application was refused on just that mate, but I'm back in again and loaded with ground to shoot on, maps, letters and everything to go with it now. So will need to wait and see what happens next.

You have not shown the whole medical form so it is difficult to comment. If you have the condition your doctor obviously considers it could impact your safe possession but it also needs to be clear that is mitigated by drugs.

She has stated on the back of the form which meds i am on for my heart and that my condition is stable also.

In which case there should be no problem. Your feo may wish to double check with your gp but it should not affect your application but may, and very likely will, delay it.
That was my thinking, it was annoying that when I applied the first time then my own doctor just marked no to all questions., although she did put down my condition, the medication i was on and that my condition was stable. I will just need to wait and see what happens I suppose.

The trouble is that no two doctors will agree and some will just be over cautious with their responses. Good luck.

Without troubling myself to read your very detailed post, I have to ask what this has to do with good reason as defined in the firearms act?

Yup. Go back to the docs and challenge it .
Mention that you’ll take it up with the BMA is they **** about as a medicated heart issue should not preclude you from holding an fac

The experience thing is just garbage. None is needed

Think it's a arse covering exercise on that question!! Just want to make things as awkward as possible. Good luck with application 👍

Around 7.6 m people, including me, in the UK suffer from Coronary Heart Disease also known as Ischemic Heart Disease.
I would be having strong words with my GP asking why they ticked the box stating that my CHD may affect my safe possession of firearms.

The qualifying statement on the form is “which may affect the safe possession of firearms or shotguns”. I think you should be able to argue successfully that your condition does not affect your ability to safely possess a firearm as hundred of thousands, if not millions of people in the UK will have this condition and will safely drive cars, buses, trains and yes some will also own firearms. I think referring them back to your own GP who did the initial form will probably see this sorted out in your favour. Good luck.

Good luck getting it sorted 🤞for you.

Might be worth putting feelers out for another GP surgery. They are private businesses not part of the NHS, just contractors to them.

I'm not gonna speculate on the likely outcome of the Op's application, but rather state again my concern that the current approach to FAC medical form disclosure and completion of same is given of a very real possibility that certain Applicants may well succumb to otherwise treatable conditions for fear of 'losing' their FAC. Indeed, who would state with certainty that there aren't already SD members who've died because they chose to resist a consultation with their GP?
