Available: Shooting Permission, 12 miles west of Stirling

Don't know the poster or the ground, the poster did request no disappointed posts, and we should respect that
all discussions should have been with the landowner in private.

But now that it's been brought out in open form I suppose it will do no harm to put in my penny worth.
While at first the price seems high for the acreage you are getting quite a bit for your money, the poster did say for 1,2or 3 guns so £ 400 each you get Roe stalking a medal buck would cost you more than £400 the possibility of a Red
a representative stag will cost around the £400 mark , rough shooting is now around £150 per day the poster did say pheasants would be restricted, not that no pheasants could be shot, what the restrictions are is something a prospective tenant would need to discuss with the owner, duck and goose fighting £60/£80 per flight, pigeon flighting what cost per gun?

No hares or rabbits that is a little unusual especially the rabbits as most farmers want rid, again something to discuss in private with owner.

Someone mentioned the lack of salmon in the Forth now again don't know the area, but you only need to look at the number caught on Stirling town water to know there certainly is salmon in the Forth.

What price do you put on it don't how productive that stretch is but prices of £100 plus per rod a day at peak times
would not by considered excessive.

So all things considered it does not seem a bad deal

If it is in the area I think it is Tilhill were taking £1200 plus vat for 55 acres because reds were present . It is not the acreage it is the content.

if you dont like the price then dont buy it simples !!!!!!!!!!!!!, this slanging on sd is getting very boring, why cant people just keep there nose out and stop making silly silly comments
this world is going mad

Because all of the people on the saddler / gunroom notice board are struggling to find just a little bit of land to shoot over as its as rare as rocking horse ****, it doesn't matter which end of the country your from.

Plenty rocking horse **** up here :norty:

Guys,
I won't comment further, but I do want to add to Baguio's point that these negative public comments etc, without even seeing or knowing the place, can be the very thing that puts people like me off even offering the land on here in the first place, it is what I feared would happen. It looks like it will easily sell and 3-4 people will get some nice shooting from it.
Thanks.

The OP did request that details should be kept private, that at least could have been respected, however he did fear otherwise. How predictable.

I enquiring about the shooting permission as advertised I have full insurance and DSC level 2, being stalking for over 20 years. Could you please give me more details of cost etc

Cheers

Probably my eyes but I am struggling to see your introduction. Probably being a bit cynical here but if you were a participating member you may well have had the five posts required to send a PM, then you would not stand out as someone who wants a whole lot for not much in return, but as I say probably being cynical.

Located on a working sheep farm, 160 acres of farmland, including 5woods (50 acres) and flight pond (needs work), plus 300m of bank fishing on theForth.
Roe are very common on the ground, but occasional Red’s are being seen more often.
The woods can be good for woodcock and are excellent forpigeons and the big field ditches and pond commonly hold ducks. Geese are also a passing opportunity.
Hares and rabbits are excluded and due to close neighbouringshoots, pheasants will be restricted.
Zeroing and target practice allowed.
This is not a massive bit of land but would suit 1 to 2/3guns for rough shooting and roe culling and if you like a spot of bank fishingfor salmon & trout.
Initially offered 1[SUP]st[/SUP] Feb 14 to 28[SUP]th[/SUP]Feb 15. Renewable by agreement. Insurance required. DSC preferred, or other suitable stalking experience.

PM, with your e-mail address, for details.

I will provide the price to those who enquire but please no disappointed posts, the land has to earn its keep (the sheep don't do it on their own!) and the Roe have not been shot for ~10 years. Plus this is not for a syndicate share, it is whole exclusive rights to you.

Thanks.

As somebody who has seen many leases shot to s**t have you considered drawing up a cull plan that is not to be exceeded?
This way you could preserve the deer at a set level.
Many leases I have seen see the numbers go down very steadily over the years to the point that the stalking becomes worthless.
You may get a little less in return for the stalking but the ongoing rewards will be an income which will be ongoing and a tenant who will stay for a long time instead of a different one every few years.
If you want any advice there are many members (including me ) who will happily give advice

I wish I lived close by as I'd have bitten his hand off. I spent almost that for a week to shoot one stag. It's good value IMO. Good luck whoever gets it and a great offer by qwerty.

Guys,
Thank you very much for all your interest. I had over 80 enquiries and many offers. The ground is now let.
Sorry for any disappointment and for not replying individually.

For your interest I note the following;
a lot of enquiries and offers came from south of the border and even a couple from abroad!
a large number of enquiries appeared to come from people who already had a fair bit of shooting
most people appear to have at least DSC1
I had a few offers above and one well above asking price! (the land went for the straight asking price)

It is clearly not easy

Regards,
GP
