Shooting Tripods - What do you use?

Pondering over a tripod - looking for some user feedback (honest).

Ideally looking for a tripod that I can use prone as well as standing.

What do you use and where do you get them from?

I use a reckon Ct3 with the big chunky legs from Scott Country with a Sunwayfoto IB-65P ball head.

If I had my time again I'd look at the 2 Vets tripods for their leg extending option, its the reverse of most tripods and makes for a steadier platform.

The ball head doesn't need all the fancy knobs and whistles, trust me I got 2 different ball heads before finding this IB-65P. One single lever to do everything!

I think you can find the larger diameter leg tripods cheaper on amazon...basically same tripod but no brand name!

Can send some pics over if you would like.

Your main thing to look for is it's weight support, the more weight the tripod will hold then the more stable you are 👍🏻

I too have the Reckon with the steel Pig Saddle - I found there's quite a bit of play with the Pig Saddle clamp.
I negated some of this by nipping up the slides in the vice.
With my foxing rifle I fitted an Arca plate & fitted direct to the ball head - much steadier

Bog pod death grip ,3 different angles to shoot with ,prone ,kneeling and standing.
Adjustable saddle lock so movable or solid.
It's the aluminium one so used over bait station or known fox path, you can carry it about but for rambles I use my quad sticks.

I’m still using the Rekon CT1 with saddle and after several years it’s still going strong. Can use it prone with smaller column insert.

Thanks for all of the responses so far.

It seems the Rekon and BOG options are the easiest to get your hands on in these parts.

I would be using ARCA across my rifles.

It’s the use of them prone that is the main concern. Although they all state they can be used prone, as @Klenchblaize has asked - is it low enough to be comfortable?

Neither tripod nor bipod but a pair of very old Predator Snyper Stix that I carry attached to a single tall hazel stick. They can be deployed seated or very low prone but there is some ‘flex’ in the latter position that needs mastering:

Spartan often have pictures of their tripods very low and shooting prone. The legs go horizontal and the distance between the ground and rifle looks less than if it was on a bipod.

If your using arca, and would like to use the tripod prone, then I'd seriously consider this option. Arca and picatinny with no additional height from the ball head and the saddle making it a good choice for prone. The quick release is also a better optin than the screw clamp in my opinion

The Primos 3rd gen tripod is quite good but I recently got the Blaser Carbon quadsticks and I don't think the Primos will get much use from now on. The Blaser is like shooting from a bench

Very similar setup to what I use, the bullhead I use has a higher weight rating and the tripod is a 3 section leg but otherwise almost identical
