Hi all.

looking for some new shooting trousers, just for general shooting, dont need to be the best, not looking to spend over £200, bought some seeland key point trousers recently but sent back as far to long in the leg, replaced them with some harkila Asmund trousers but unless your 9 foot tall then there no good, bought a 34" waist that are more like a 30" waist, none of my local shops stock any or many trousers, and the one that does there all harkila and over £300, idealy some with different leg sizes or some that are not overly long, im 5, 10 so not particularly a short arse, any recommendations' please.
thanks.

My bad...summer trousers are fjallravens, winter/cold weather trousers are ridgelines...don't wear ridgelines in summer unless you want portable sauna effect

Which Fjallravens, for winter?

I must say, I like my Hoggs Kincraig trousers very much.
The Karl Pro Hydratic is my favorite for winter. Not too warm for walking but it shields you from the worst of wind and wet.

Fjallraven Vidda (really good) or Keb (they do wear quickly) for warmer months

Shooterking silva for when it’s really grim or I’m static for a long time

Best pair I own are outfox by schoffel but a one tine sale purchase.

In mild weather Im happy to use army surplus. V quiet, hard wearing.

A few weeks ago picked up a couple of pairs of fleece lined jeans at costco for about £30 each. Green and warm without being too warm. Quiet. So far, so good.

One of the drawbacks of buying online is you can't try before you buy. But the choices for buying in shops is certainly dwindling. One of the drawbacks of buying shooting trousers is that they tend to be one length only. And with fiddly bits such as velcro straps and waterproof drop liners, shortening them yourself is often not possible. It would help if there was a standard for sizes as well. A 36" should be 36" and so on. Or a C46 or....You get the drift. Confused dot com. It's a lottery and you often end up making do with trousers that are a bit too tight, a bit too loose or look like a concertina around your ankles rather than the faff of returning them and ordering another size, especially when you can't get them on the 'phone and you have to negotiate websites geared up for sales but not so much for returns.

Okey dokey, rant over. It's bath time I'm told. Where's my one size fits all rubber duck?

US BDU surplus, look for a Med/Reg size. Decent size map pockets, the newer multicam and OCP stuff have more pockets and better ergonomics. If you want 'plain' colours, Helikon do some really good takes on the BDU/ACU uniform items.

So much love for Fjallraven! I too have various Fjallraven trousers and all are superb. My current stalking trousers though are some Laksen ones I picked up at the Game Fair. Really comfortable, warm, waterproof (mostly) and superbly made. Not too expensive either. I use Fjallraven Barents Pro and I also bought a superb pair of Fjallraven waterproof proof Lappland trousers on here in the classifieds. They are great! Lastly, my Dad bought me some harkila leather trousers which are decent too: very warm, hard as nails but you do get a few odd looks occasionally! I love them all....I did have a couple of pair of Mil surplus trousers but the knees wore through in no time.
