I'm fairly sure it's not legal to use S1 for game/wildfowl, if that's what the OP was hoping to do.Would it not be easier to apply for a sect 1 shotgun?
it’s an interesting question? I believe that you are correct in that S1 is generally prohibited for game/wildfowl & that they are generally only sanctioned for use in pest control where good reason is demonstrated.I'm fairly sure it's not legal to use S1 for game/wildfowl, if that's what the OP was hoping to do.

The law defines a “shotgun” as having a smooth bored barrel of a minimum length of 24” and if a repeater, fed by a fixed and permanent magazine holding a maximum of 2 cartridges. This is defined in S2 of the firearms act.seriously fancy a Cosmi, obviously a used one.

yeah i’m not ordering it from new at 25 large lol.The law defines a “shotgun” as having a smooth bored barrel of a minimum length of 24” and if a repeater, fed by a fixed and permanent magazine holding a maximum of 2 cartridges. This is defined in S2 of the firearms act.
If a gun doesn’t fit the the above definition then it is a firearm under S1.
Most Semi and pumps in the UK have the magazine tube crimped so they are incapable of taking more than two cartridges and hence are classed as shotguns. I would imagine that the vast majority of shotguns for the British market will be crimped from the factory.
If you were buying a Cosmi with a “normal magazine” it would need to have magaxine tube crimped or otherwise permanently modified so it only takes two cartridges. If you were ordering from new, then order it with just a two shot magazine.
Under the law you can only use a “shotgun” to shoot game or wildfowl. The law doesn’t differentiate between a london best double barrelled sidelock or a Franchi Affinity Semi Auto or a Cosmi, provided they meet definition of a Shotgun.
In that case if its not restricted it will need to be restricted and then, I think, but may be wrong, will need to go to proof house for confirmation of the restriction.yeah i’m not ordering it from new at 25 large lol.
exactly- just take my money! An expensive solution to a problem that doesn't exist
