Shotgun carts

I thought i knew a bit about shot guns, but i still need a little guidance.
I have a couple of 12 g shotguns and have never thought it would be a problem to buy cartridges of any general size of shot for birds,Fox’s and other small mammals.
Would there be a restriction on me to buy std carts, say a 10 g or others if i haven’t got the shotguns in that gauge on my Cert??

Well I thank you all Gents!!
I must admit it’s been a learning curve,however i always had a hinkering i knew the answer :D

You can buy whatever shotgun cartridges you like. In fact you don't even need an SGC to possess cartridges, although you can't buy them.
PM, I think that you will find that you need a FA Certificate to purchase Brenneka slugs for your shotgun, irrelevant of bore size

Kind regards

Patrick

yes you are absolutely correct,I’m pretty sure it’s the size of shot and i believe minimum no less than 6

The only restrictions I ever experienced, previous to the spiders moving into the shotgun cabinet, have been NO slug, & Nothing with less than SSG loadings.

^^ Correct. This is my understanding as well. Only thing you cant buy is S1 shotgun cartridges like slugs etc. Those are FAC only and are limited as per your conditions on your firearms licence.

The only restrictions for a shotgun certificate holder on buying ammunition is that the shop will want to see your certificate (only to show you have one, nothing to do with how many and what gauge) and of course solid slugs, where you would have to have a firearms certificate with authority to have them on there.
