Shotgun transfer

I have cocked up emailing lancs police about the acquisition of a shotgun. I somehow managed to create a draft email instead of sending it. I have now sent it but it is 8 days so a day over the limit of 7 days. Am I likely to get any comeback for being late.

Don't worry, I had a shotgun for 3 years without notifying of the transfer. Clean forgot about it. They picked up on it during a spot check of my security arrangements, and simply added it to my SGC then and there. No hassle. We're only human, after all.

Neither side of licensing are perfect- my local branch couldn't even copy the information correctly from one cert to the other 🙄 when I called to tell them about it I was told that its actually down to ME to check information is correct on a new cert... 😬 felt like saying - send mine out blank next time with an enclosed biro and I'll do it for you 😂

As always with firearms licensing, be honest and open and let them know what happened
You'll be fine

Am I likely to get any comeback for being late.
It depends. If they want a reason to do a), b), or c), well you've just supplied it. And, of course, it does depend if this is a one off or a long term persistent mode of behaviour. FWIW I'd offer the explanation you've given here regarding the email confusion. I hate technology and you won't be the first to have "sent" something only to fond that you haven't.

tell them you have posted them the information but for belt and braces due to the postal strike you have sent the email.
They are probably already on Christmas and New year holiday so by the time they get back it will not matter 😂

And if they ask for the Recorded Delivery/Special Delivery number (which means AFAIR must be used for postal notifications)? Then what?

That's not a requirement with GM Police, after all, FACs are sent out by regular post.

I would just send it and say nothing.
It will be too much work to start investigating you.
Ken.
PS. I send all any correspondence relating to firearms via Special Delivery. £6.45 I think.

I wouldn't worry about it.

I usually get a call just after a variation/renewal to ask how I acquired a rifle as they do not have any record of it. It’s usually followed up by a forwarded email that I sent to them from the first week notifying them of new firearm. No one’s perfect! Don’t sweat it.

Nothing in law on your certificate that I know about stating how you must notify them just that you have seven days to do so. In Kent it is via online, email or post.

I think you should be OK. Did they acknowledge the email (I usually get an auto reply)?
