Should I boil out this head

I bumped into this chap this evening I’m not too sure if it’s worth boiling out and mounting any advice would be appreciated

I always boil out brilliant heads…. But also those that give me a stalk to remember… maybe a buck that give me the run around and had to work hard for

It’s quite straightforward so if you want to it’s no significant effort. As a trophy no, as a memory yes. Most memorable stalks don’t correlate with head size.

Whilst none of my 'heads' are particularly worthy, in the medal department; those that my pal has done, remind me of some wonderful days in the countryside.



A couple or three years ago, I had spotted a 'huge' Roe Buck. I stalked him for over a week, before I caught up with him.

His 'huge' (got to be Gold) antlers (through the binoculars), turned out to be string caught up in his (very modest) antlers.

I asked my pal to keep it as I had seen it.

I think he did a decent job of it, and it absolutely reminds me of the Gold that never was...

I like to make bottle openers from the not so special ones, and give them away to friends and family

Always a personal choice but you learn a lot from boiling a head. Keep the bottom jaws so that you can compare tooth wear.
