Should shotgun and firearm certificates be on the accepted list of photo IDs for elections?

Yes, so long as it’s not mandatory. I certainly wouldn’t be using mine but some people may only have that form of ID.

I doubt there will be anyone that will:
A. Not have a driving licence or passport. But,
B. Have a FAC.

So why would anyone want to spend manhours on something that doesn't chancecto outcome.

And as Jeff said. Why braodcast that you have an FAC.

there are lots of forms of ID that people could not confirm were real.... for me I would not know a bus pass if it jumped up and bit me... don't live anywhere near a useful bus service..... when I was in the Police, my warrant card was not accepted as ID but a cheque guarantee card with no photo was... however, almost every force had their own version of warrant cards... some in my force still used a warrant card signed by a Chief Constable who had left almost 10 years previously!

I always wore a waistcoat at work.

It was, I think, a throwback to my medical days - it kept your tie out of the patient's face.

One very senior officer used to refer to me as "Rupert" (I have had worse) because my waistcoats were colourful.

For about the last five years of my service, I had this tucked over my photo ID. I was never challenged once...

Thanks all for the feedback thus far. As per the article linked from the OP, some BASC members have raised concerns about not being able to use their certs as voter ID. A Labour MP has raised this in parliament. The Electoral Commission has recommended that the government expand the list of accepted documents. Top of the list is likely to be Ministry of Defence-issued veteran cards. Whether veterans wish to use that ID will be their choice. Same would apply for shotgun and firearm certs.

I have no photo ID, apart from my FAC, but I wouldn't show that anyone.

Yes, they should.
It's ridiculous that a document with your photo, name, address, date of birth, signature, and signature of Chief Office of Police should not be recognised as an official form of ID.
My FAC is the only form of photo ID that I have, and it has been accepted everywhere I've used it, except to vote.
