I use the 140gr SPBT SGK and find it's very good but I don't push it too fast 2,730 ft/sec. Always an exit on Reds so can't see the problem.
However to the original question, 140gr HPBT. I used to use the Sierra HPBT a few years ago in my 243 (85gr) and all I can say is it was very good and used it mostly on Fallow and smaller. Yes it was a tough bullet, superbly accurate, seemed to always do the job, generally an exit unless over 200 yards and very little meat damage unless very close range which is to be expected.
So I have some on order for my 7mm-08 and will be picking them up asap, will report back when I can.
used the sierra 140 hollow point game king in the 7x64 last few days 8 sika stags all carcases showed no excessive damage small entry and on average a 2 inch exit so will be continuing using them
Just a quick update on the 7mm HPBT for 7mm-08. Got some, made a load, 2770 f/s, very accurate.
Will use them when we start in November.
More to come. . .
Got some a few weeks ago shot a few deer with them now I thought they where very similar in terminal performance as the gamekings no more no less damage, accuracy was similar as well
