It came to me in an article in the July magazine DJZ over here in Germany.
125 workers are to lose their jobs, the reasons were stated to be a shrinking market of sporting & government sales with C19 now on top so they have just rolled over and died.
Beware of buying a rifle as spares will be an issue.
Pistols don"t count as you can"t have them anyway.
 
So....if you have a Sauer that you want to keep hold of it might be an idea to buy up some of the typical bits that degrade or are easily broken. Such a shame, great guns.
 
What a shame. I really like their rifles. They weren't a small company either I didn't think? Quality seemed reasonable.
 
I bet the US do most of the pistols as it is a different market and the north German side did the quality gunsmithing work on rifles.

It's all a bit confusing with where Sig Sauer and JP Sauer & Sohn start and stop, but I know that Sauer rifles, Mauser and Blaser (along with Minox) are all ultimately under L&O Holdings. There might have also been a split with the Sig Sauer US business...
 
Sig Sauer is an ongoing concern providing a link for Law Enforcement / Military weapons from the main supply chain of Sauer, Blaser, which is a huge parent company itself

The Blaser LRS 1, LRS 11 and Tac 2 were the offering developed from Blaser R93 by Sig Sauer and the SSG 3000 was developed from the Sauer STR200 for Police / Mil use

All were built from a base weapon in the main supply chain from the parent companies - with the excpetion of the stocks for each weapon, the main components are standard parts from the base rifle

Yup. All now part of Lüke & Ortmeier Gruppe:
Blaser, German Sport Guns, Hammeli, John Rigby & Co., Mauser, Sauer & Sohn, Sig Sauer, Sig Systems, Swiss arms and Voere (along with Blaser Group Wetzlar who own Minox)
It's consolidation not unlike the car industry!
 
And Merkel is owned by arabs.
It has been a subsidiary of the UAE company Caracal International, based in Abu Dhabi, since 2007.
Merkel do all the engineering and Abu D build the pistols.
 
So what spares are needed. I've never come across anything breaking on their rifles. Not saying they don't but I sure want to know.

There seems doubt about the story anyway but Sauer rifles are part of the Blazer, Mauser group and they are not going broke
