Just done my showers.
Cut away old bead with stanley knife and paint on silicon remover.
Wash off thoroughly and reapply with silicon smoothing tool from Screwfix - helpful video about spraying weak soap and water solution before using tool - saves on the masking tape !

Dont know much about the removal of it, i use Stanley.

A few years ago a company done my external house insulation. The manager said the mastic man will be here tomorrow. I seen him arrive at the front of the house and thought i would get my boots on and see how he does it. When i stepped out the back door he had just finished. I couldn't believe how quick he was and he had made such a good job.

When i worked in the concrete repair and specialist coatings game sealing up new and replacing old mastic was one of the things we used to do. If you know what your doing its easy. We used to make up our own finishing tools from hard wood and soak them in a mild washing up liquid solution. I can still seal a bath freehand and hardly use a finishing tool on it. Don't like to think how many thousands of mtrs of wall sealing I've done.
