There are numerous threads on here on how to do it. I use an expanding plaster board plug in base of skull. Long screw though sheild and into plug. Countersink screw head on back of shield. Dead easy. Screw does not show.

Cheers gents, doesn’t sound like I’m too far off with the idea then. Lots of great tips in this as well. I’ll try with a “poor” one first and see how it goes!
Plaster of Paris from any craft or modelling shop - spread solution into brain cavity - leave to go off for 4+ days - drill hole in center of hard plaster & push in Rawl plug - fix from reverse of shield.
Used this method on Roe and Red "Crown Cut" heads, works very well.
I tend to use a block of wood and gorilla glue where the brain was , just make sure the scull is totally grease free. Got big stags hanging like that for years no problem

Drill hole in back of skull with wood drill and insert expanding plaster board plug. Mark centre line on back of shield. Position skull on shield and using felt pen mark position on shield directly below plug. Transfer mark to back of shield and drill hole 1mm bigger than screw dia. Countersink hole accept screw head. Use long screw to attach skull to shield. You can always practice on a scap bit of board.
