This looks like infection you sometimes see in lambs due to bacteria getting to the liver from the umbilicus.
I always thought they were soft? These were quite hard.Tapeworm cysts, Taeniids.
Cysts are fluid-filled, whereas those in the OP's photo appear to be firm nodules.See it rabbits, when we had some. Always understood them to be tapeworm cysts.

Looks like liver white spot in red deer but not sure if that applies to roe too.
