Personally, I think cultural diversity is a massive benefit to us all.

Today we would be outraged (I Hope) at the concept of a son or daughter being ostracised for marrying outside their culture

Couple of points from the last few pages, it seems all those who are half german, french, dutch etc., or were brought up there etc, think being in the eu is great and we shouldn't try to leave.
Well get used to this, you are a minority, you do not represent the majority.
As for the even smaller minority who think their ability to travel to europe with dog and gun at the drop of a hat, is more important than this country claiming back its independace.

I couldn’t care less about our country’s independence, I and many others who like to travel and hunt on the continent have had our hassle free movement greatly reduced.

Also of the general public’s ability to take their pets on holiday is now going to be a ball ache, why interfere with a system that has worked for god knows how many years ( pet passport) and the European firearms pass.

Obviously you haven’t experienced the thrill of a driven hunt, or experienced the hunting culture our hunting bretheran in Europe?

If there was a public referendum here about reducing our ability to stalk and shoot there would be uproar!

Macron has admitted that the french government knows the majority of french do not like the eu and would probably vote out if given the chance. Italy will likely drop out of the euro over the row about their Budget, and who knows may drop out of the eu completely. Poland is daggers drawn with the eu over judicial reforms there. Hungary has said that they will not be taking in asylum seekers doled out from the eu and have been sanctioned. The AFD is on the rise in Germany, winning seats in nearly every area, especially in the east of the country.

So the notion that the eu is some sort of Utopia that those bolshie brits are spoiling is far from the truth. Still the eu ploughs on with unpopular policies that few want. Had they left things as they were under the EEC, i reckon things would have been fine, but no, its "ever closer union", more and more power to brussels.

Yes I voted to stay in as I do see the plus side of the mixing of western European cultures as has been going on since the Romans came onto Deal beach in Kent in 55BC.
I get the moans about racial ghettos developing in Britain as I saw it starting in Coventry when I was a kid on my street but that"s the result of our colonisation policies from way back when, so only ourselves to blame there.
Now you that you have made your decision I hope not to see a thread start up on SD in the next years moaning about the knock on effects of this new independence.

Im sure our war dead, and their family's would not agree.
As for taking pets on holiday, you chose to have a pet, which until recently meant you stayed at home, or put them in kennels etc.
I have no hankering to take part in a foreign driven hunt, along with the majority of shooters in this country.
As for an uproar over a referendum to curtail shooting opportunities here in the Uk, not much chance of that is there, fewer people hunt than used
to target shoot, and we all know how much difference the marches made.

You live in a dreamland if you think the majority care about your shooting or holidaying with your dog, more than they care about regaining our
country's freedom from the eu.

Sorry you couldn't care about your country. If you enjoy driven hunting so much perhaps you and your dog would do all true Brits a favour and stop over there on a permanent basis.
