Yes, he was a formidable politician and powerful speaker, regardless if you support leftwing nationalism or not.
What one has to take into account in relation to his captivating speech is that it was 44 years ago. He worked as a politician all of his life and was an advocate of a multi-speed Europe. Funnily enough though, A multi speed Europe is is what the EU is at present. Hence the reason why Britain has its sovereignty and control of its own borders etc etc. Two examples would be that the UK chose not to be part of the Euro zone ( kept the £ and opted out of the €) and another example would be that it opted out of the Schengen area ( has clearly defined borders that can’t be crossed without having a valid passport) And so the UK government can very strictly control EU immigration if it wants to.
This, is one of the things that was so dishonest about the leave campaign, people were lead to believe that our EU membership meant that we had no control over our borders, they even whent as far to imply that millions and millions of Turkish immigrants were about to descend into the UK ..... sheer madness! Nobody ever mentioned that EU immigration represents only 30% of our governments chosen total. And of that small percentage our government can already choose to means test EU immigrants to prevent any slack lazy peasants from staying here and being a burden on our country .
Only..... successive UK governments have chosen not to do this. It’s not the EUs failure, it’s our governments that chose not to.

Kindest regards, Olaf

I'd sooner have neither

But we might end up with both

Staying in the EU and 70's Labour (on steroids) returning with Corbyn
Apart from the fact that Corbyn hates the EU and wants out because our membership would prevent him from setting up all sorts of special Socialist ‚businesses, creating wonderful jobs for people making things like wicker contact lenses and wooden pants and all would be subsidised by taxing us all to b uggery to create the USSUK .

Kindest regards, Olaf

It is true that Corbyn would be restricted by the EU

But I don't think he would take us out; he certainly won't get us a better deal, but more likely shackle us to them

He eventually would be kicked out but we'd still be stuck with the EU

That is why I think we might end up with the worst of both worlds

Peter Shore? I lived through a Labour Government where Peter Shore was a Cabinet Minister. My late father was taxed at 19s 6d in the Pound. For those that are too young to understand pre-decimal that's Income Tax at 97.5%. Out of every Pound he got to keep 6d. That's today's money's 2.5 pence. Exchange Control of twenty-five quid to take with you out of the country on holiday and having to get it entered in you passport by your bank. Red Robbo at Leyland, Tom Jackson at the Royal Mail and Jack Jones in charge at the docks.

Protectionist tariffs on imported vehicles that meant all most people could afford were the awful, awful, awful products of Longbridge and the nationalised and taxpayer massively subsidised British Leyland? So you paid twice for its rubbish. Once when it was being made in the factory on the few days they weren't on strike and second when you paid for all the faults to be rectified at the garage after you'd bought the thing? No, thanks. I lived through Peter Shore's Government's Britain. I think I'd sooner have even the worst of the EU than the supposed best of Peter Shore's Britain.
no and 14year old kids wasn't getting stabbed and you could leave the doors open now it's me me me i liked them old day

Ireland opted out of schengen too, but the place is full of eastern europeans, so it does not work or more likely was simply never enforced under guidance of the eu.

Those 14 year olds are from the one demographic that the police cannot stop or you would have the likes of diane abbott and lammy crying the "R" word to anyone who would listen. You cannot win so let them at it.

Remaining in the EU, from which we can't exit, is worse than the threat of a Labour Government that can be voted out.
We can leave the EU, they are not stopping us. indeed, I’d be completely happy to cancel our EU membership and give away our power in the largest economy in the world if wasn’t for the fact that leaving will destroy our country at this point in time. Why give up power and economic freedoms?
Kindest regards, Olaf

If people think its only the stroppy brits getting tired and upset with the eu, watch this.

what you meant was 'might' destroy our country at this point in time

constant negative attitudes is another thing that annoys me about remainers……………...

Sorry, I meant to say . It’s down to their government to choose how they do Things.

They will if we sign up to the deal that's on offer.
No, we don’t need to sign up to anything, we can just leave without any deal.
It might be a total disaster, for our economy and so forth but we can just leave. The EU is quite willing to let us go......
That’s why the UK never got any decent deals out of them .
