Pity For a good one you are looking at £20k plus now

I used to display my pistol collection alongside other HBSA members at Bisley Camp in the distant past and l think at my last display there was a Lancaster Howdah for sale for not too much money then, being a bit slow off the mark l didn’t commit, can’t for the life of me remember the price l think it was in the region of a couple or three grand, hey ho hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Just remembered l may have a .577 pistol cartridge somewhere around in amongst the rest of my accoutrements (shite).

And a few bargains to boot
Well... maybe... after 20% premium +vat, 4.95% commission +vat, delivery, RFD fees.. it can soon add 50% to the hammer price.

Saleroom is a good place to see what's about, but go to the auctioneers site for bidding as their commissions are generally lower.

I have had some good deals and some not so good deals, as always, 'buyer beware'.

I wonder why this was developed

Here's a good explanation of German reasoning and use.

Not shooting down. The other way around. To cut the barrage ballon's cable that had caught the leading edge of your wing between fuselage and the engine usually (as you were coming in to bomb) from bringing YOU down. The cable was supposed to slide along the wing into a notch with this cable cutter cartridge in it. And the force would fire the cartridge and the steel wedge would then fire and cut the cable and you would be free of the balloon.
