Wanted: Someone to Learn From

Hi all,

I’ve recently started getting back into the field after a busy period of being away with work and was hoping that someone might be able to help?

Background
Before I joined the military, I worked in the clay and game shooting industry for a few years. However, throughout this time my exposure to rifle shooting was pretty limited (with a couple of paid/gratis stalks) but something I’d always wanted to get after at some point. Fast forward a few years, I’m and FAC holder with tickets for both .17HMR and .243 and have recently put my name into the hat for Defence Deer Management following a successful completion of my DSC1 last month. I’m currently in the market at the moment for my first deer rifle.

Aim
Now that I’ve got a bit of stability in home/work life, I’m looking to try and get back into the mix and look to make up some lost ground.

If possible, I would love the opportunity to tag-along with someone whilst they are rabbiting/foxing/deer stalking just so that I can, first and foremost, be a spare pair of hands, but hopefully learn some things without having to do so by staring at a computer screen - it’s difficult to pick up worthwhile knowledge from behind a keyboard.

Just to be absolutely clear, I’m not using this as an opportunity to wiggle my way into permissions nor am I seeking someone to sign their life to me as a mentor. Just someone that is happy to occasionally have someone observing, learning and helping out where they can in an area that they have a keen interest in.

I’m based in the Hampshire/Winchester area but am more than happy to travel where it falls within the realms of the possible.

What I lack in ‘quid pro quo’, I like to think I make up for in shockingly poor humour and a half decent choice in biscuits. If you someone that could tolerate the two of these then I’m sure we’d get along just fine :)

Cheers all,

Hatch
