So, big 40 coming up later this year. keen on booking a special hunting trip to Spain with the GF to celebrate; hunting an ibex trophy beast.

Recommendations from those on SD who have done this recently please;

specifications;

2-3 days hunting all inclusive (me hunting only) but staying in a good hotel or lodge for the GF a must too.

Target; 1 beast only- not a medal winning trophy, but not a nobber type cull beast either, something worth the taxidermy.

budget c£4K mark, all in if possible (minus flights, taxidermy costs/ shipping etc)

hopeing to get a shoulder mount done out there and shipped back to UK (parliamentary delays on related legislation required obviously) so an outfitter with links to reputable taxidermist is required.

pick up & drop off from major Spanish airport preferred.

season ; either late October early November this year, or, our preference would be March next year - advice on that too please.

Subspecies ; no real preference, but less inclined to hunt a Gredos purely based on my likes of other subspecies horn profile.

rifle, would like to take my own 7mm rem mag, but open to using the guest rifle if easier with customs etc (see my last point re extended holiday below?)

Greatful for advice from those who have done this before and what to seek out, look out for, costs? etc.

might also add on a longer stay elsewhere in Spain as an extended holiday too.

many thanks E.

Take a look at this crowd:
I've not personally used them but I have friends who have. Their 'Ibex grand slam' is apparently as exciting as it is knackering.

I went to spain this Feb to hunt Beceite and Barbary. I was booked to go last year but covid happened. I went with Corju Hunting the owner Fran Cortina was extremely helpful the whole way through with multiple flight cancellations, changes of dates and then with only a few weeks to go a complete change of arrival airport when easy jet cancelled the flight again! Scenery was stunning proper mountain hunting had to work for the animals. My woman come as well and they put the effort in to look after her leaving a guide with her when me and the ph had some serious climbing to do. I used the estate rifle a 8x68s as I couldn't be bothered with the hassle of taking my own. I would of had the mounts done over there but with the import situation being a potential disaster I have just had the skins salted and the skulls cleaned. Hopefully once the CITES paper work is done they will be on the way back. Nice traditional food in the evenings and cold beer. We stayed in good hotels that they organised. Frans wife also organised 4 days of touring for us she has a touring company. We went to several places in and around Madrid we had a english speaking guide so was very easy. He has all the Ibex and Chamois, mouflon and more.

Drop me an email: adictosacazar@gmail.com I still have some dates open for 2022, Nov and Dec are the best time because of the RUT and the big boys are out, let make it happen!

I’ve hunted all 4 Spanish ones with a guy called Pedro Alcaron. Google him and you’ll see his company. Speaks English, well educated and good grounds and sensible prices.

I’ve hunted also with one of the previously mentioned and didn’t have a nice hunt ; wanted me to shoot from car so they could go back to Madrid and dump me off as hunt is finished when animal taken

Loads of people on here been with Fran and to my knowledge theres not been a bad experience

Grounds as far as the eye can see and more and if you fancy playing a mountain goat they can accommodate and make the stalking as easy or challenging as you like

Thoroughly enjoyed our time with Fran and all three of us got our trophy's

Evening

I’ve hunted all the ibex and chamois species in Spain, it’s an awesome destination and a great choice for something different.

I’ve always used a mate of mine who Real Big 5 use, a guy called Alfonso, but you’d need to speak to Henry Skeffington to organise.

Another top guy is Jordi Figarolis, he’s sound and speaks fluent English.
