what adaptor are you chaps using, the classic one or the sunken gunsmith adaptor, I'm sure there's more but these are the only 2 I'm interested in.
im used to a 6-9 harris so this is i recon it at least 1" taller, and i normally use blaser quad sticks so the less i have protruding on the front of my rifle the better,
i currently have the classic one on, but i did only buy it today, so just after some thoughts.

thanks.

I have the standard adapters on all of my rifles and had no issues bar one on the same rifle all the time even after swapping stocks, so I also have two gun smith ones which I am yet to fit, on the whole the standard adapters that goes where the sling stud is pretty good! I don't see any big advantages to the gun smith mount apart from not worrying if the Allankey bolt has worked loose

think i will give the classic a chance for a bit, mine wont come lose as it has a nyloc nut on it, i do have 2 other rifles i have to buy for too,
but i am leaning towards the gunsmith one 👍

I use the gunsmith adaptor. The classic kept coming loose although this was from a wooden stick. You might be ok with a stock made of other materials. I like the fact that that the gun smith adaptor doesn’t get in the way when on my viperflex sticks - this is kind of the point for a Spartan, they are an occasional bipod. If you are using bipods more often get something more robust. I love mine. I’m shooting roe in East Lothian so it’s 90% sticks. Try the classic but I reckon you’ll end up going gunsmith in the end!

The Classic for me also, I mulled over having the Gunsmith version fitted to a couple of rifles but could not really see any advantage plus I'm miles from a decent gunsmith. The Classic comes with some very strong double sided tape and I would advise using this and also orientate the adaptor with the sling point at the front.

I use gunsmith adapter and also the one that came in the box on the other rifle both work well when called upon. Probably what you prefer on aesthetics to the eye be best answer

think i will try a gunsmith one on my 22lr, then i can compare them, iv noticed there lass than half price if bought from spartan uk, the gunsmiths are only £10 and £20 for the classic, compared to £24 and £40 👍

is it a 19mm drill bit id need?
Yes. Do not mess about with anything other than a forstner bit though. 19mm is correct but buy a decent forstner bit. A pro would probably use a pillar drill but I just remove the actions from the stock and turn them upside down and lay them on the floor and hold them in situ with my feet and then carefully mark up centre, punch to accept point of the bit and then drill carefully. Keep checking for depth and ensure you have enough timber to accept desired depth of the gunsmith adapter to ensure you don't go all the way through. Use good quality 2 part epoxy resin to secure once you have the desired hole depth.

I have done 4 stocks now i think, some of which are fairly expensive higher grade walnut stocks. They are all good and have worked for a long time now.

If you have little experience with drilling wood, practice on some scrap wood to see how the forstner bit behaves as you drill.

iv seen a couple of videos, they seem easy enough to do, he said :D
they suggest sat proud 2-4mm and set back from the sling stud 4", ??

Used both on the same rifle, classic first, found that carrying the rifle for long periods would twist the classic off centre slightly. Fitted the gunsmith adapter about 6 inches down from the sling swivel so can still fit Harris if needed but to be honest can't see it going on again very happy with the gunsmith adapter and with it lower down the stock much better for up hill shots due to its placement.
Will be looking to buy more to fit to other rifles.

The best way to fit Gunsmith adapter is with a milling machine then you can get it mm perfect. A forstner drill in a drill press also works but the mill is king in either case make sure you tape the wood first to stop splinters
