Available: Stalkers First Aid Training

Terry the course was rescheduled for the beginning of March to allow keepers to be clear of the game commitment, the 2 day content satisfies the requirements of the Emergency First Aid Course as per HSE and certificates issued by a national awarding body,. THE CHARGE WAS INCREASED AFTER NEGOTIATIONS WITH JELEN AND INCREASED IN CONTENT TO INCLUDE CASUALTY SIMULATORS TO PLAY A PART AND THESE HAVE TO BE PAID...the no. of students to make it viable are 12 .We do not intend to get into a Forum discussion on this, however thankyou for the post and I am glad that you recognise the importance of such training and have the skills to perform such at your workplace and this may prove useful in the field one day, Tony

A few quick questions

The course is £120 inc vat or £96 ex va yes?

Does the course cover me / my employees for the requirements of the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 so is it legally compliant for work places requiring First Aid at Work rather than the one day Emergency First Aid and your course also valid for three years?

How much are the HSE recommended annual one day refresher courses and is there a reduced in both time and cost course at the end of three years to requalify for another three years?

Hi Fatbloke ...Answers to your questions 1. £120 inc VAT, 2.The course qualifies the student to Emergency First Aid Standard and is fully legally compliant with the HSE (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and is valid for 3 years. 3.We have not priced the Refreshers as yet but they will be competitive and be 1 day in duration...please be aware that in addition to the requirements of the Emergency First Aid Syllabus the Stalkers Course offers much more hands on in the field and this is the main appeal with stalkers/ deer managers/Gamekeepers/other field shooters in mind...the Course is taught by an AW who is also a First Aid Instructor Assessor/ and also a Battlefield Medic who has served in Afghanistan operationally as a Senior NCO , and he is just about to leave the Army,so a good level of knowledge is assured, hope that clarifies your points All The Best, Tony

Tony,

Thanks for answering I had hoped the course would cover our requirements for First Aid at Work rather than the Emergency First Aid course which normally only take a day to complete.

Would it be fair to say that this course is aimed more at the recreational stalker who wants to learn some extra skills than at estates and organisations that have a legal requirement to train their first aiders to the higher standard of First Aid at Work?

Hope you understand as business we have to look at the total costs and although your course sounds very good and interesting we would still have to send our appointed first aiders on a three day course to first qualify and then on three yearly refreshers

Hi Fatbloke the course is not designed solely for recreational stalkers alone... so much so that Jelen are putting their own staff through it, the course will cover the syllabus for the 1-day Emergency First Aid at Work Course and that certificate can be issued if the student is assessed as passing the syllabus ,the Emergency First Aid Course is the baseline ticket for recreational stalkers who may not need the First Aid at Work endorsement...the Appointed Person Course is not appropriate for this level of input obviously. I am sure we can tick the boxes on your requirements, Tony

The comments made on here are not correct.. The HSE does not allow the 3 year qualification to be tought in two days.. Myself and our employees did a three day course to gain our three year qualification and will be taking a one day refresher every year.. I remain totally suportive of First Aid Training but do not agree that the HSE will allow a two day course that gives you the three year qualification..
I have done 4 three day courses aswell as my military training and the only reason for my posts is to make sure members do recieve the correct info..
No professional body is allowed to give the 3yr qualification in 2 days to my knowledge..
Happy to be enlightened
Terry

The Course we offer qualifies to The Emergency First Aid at Work level , which only needs to be completed in 1-day, we are offering 2-days which incorporates the refresher elements for those holding the First Aid at Work ticket and wish to re-qualify..we are not offering the First Aid at Work 3-day qualification as an initial qualification.... in practice the field elements of the input are way and beyond the EFAW Level and include some Advanced Life Support input for information purposes only. The First Aid at Work Course you mention is a 3-day,it used to be 4-day but it changed in 2009,that Course was and is still for industry/large organisations...shooting sports etc are best served by the EFAW input at this time. I anticipate that those who have done the First Aid at Work will re-qualify with their previous/existing providers anyway.so it is somewhat irrelevant at this time

roved First Aid Trainer and Assessor/ and DMQ Approved Witness, have been planning a First Aid for Deer Stalkers Training Course, fully certificated and valid for 3 years, the Course will equate with The Emergency First Aid Course modified for the Deer Stalker, there is a thread on the site regarding this subject and First Aid Kits and very interesting to.... ,however a skills based training course such as I have proposed would crystallise the use of such a kit and may save your or someone else,s life in the future,I guess that the next question is cost,I would imagine it to be within the £40 region ,but the venues and travelling costs would have to be considered to make it viable. So feedback please guys, also do you think that this type of training should be part of the DMQ,just a thought......I anticipate the Course can be completed in 1 day.[/QUOTE]

Are there ant statistics how many accident needing knowledge provided by this kind of course there are in the UK?

I guess very few.

In my view a course "how do handle dogs when searching for wounded deer" would be more useful.
