Stalking locked down?

Day to day life on a farm is business as usual right now. It hasn't changed one jot.
Even on the domestic side there's nothing changed yet, but we'll notice the difference if / when we run out of flour.

it’s the same for me!
Business as usual, my chickens need looking after, at the end of the week they will start to go and feed the masses, clean down and we do it all over again.

good afternoon, freeforester,i am in similar position as you except I have my service pension but deer management is my living income but as of yesterday not only from boris but also from the land owner as he has self isolated and we have been told to stand down and not enter the estate so that's it for me, walk the dog read the forum and do some reloading! try and keep safe out there!
Thanks for this Banus, my position is concerning food production, my EHO has responded, though not as yet heard back from the local firearms licensing department. EHO said:

"I do not see food manufacturing featuring on the UK’s list of non-essential businesses that must close.

Coronavirus Support for Businesses in Scotland

Market stalls do feature as businesses that may trade, but I would treat this with great care and concern for distancing. I would like far more clarity on this one, and will defer to more information coming from Scottish Government. Please can I keep in touch with you about this one?

If you can continue to provide a service, whether delivery out to shops or customers, or a scheduled collection service, and maintain distancing I do not think, given the current information that we would place a prohibition on you. Obviously, the huge caveat is, this is subject to change at any moment and we continue to monitor and follow Government sources of information closely. Any change, and I will come back to you." (Ends)

For clarification, all markets are now suspended, and anyway I will not be attending any until I myself am satisfied the risk from close contact infection is gone, period. Shop drops and mail order or private sales with appropriate precautionary measures are the only way I'll be continuing, I don't even want to be in proximity with any customer. Will let you know the response from police as and when I receive it.

For further clarification, nothing will happen before I get the nod from the Police, as the carrying and use of firearms are central to my own situation.

My guns and rifles will be staying firmly put in the cabinets, I will not be shooting in any form until told it is ok to do so.

But, and this is a serious question, I have two fields, very rural, about 1 minute drive from where I live. Within these fields I have quite a large allotment, all fenced, water from a bore hole, all the beds are ready to go for growing veg. There is very, very little chance of coming into contact with anyone unless they are trespassing. Would tending to my fields and allotment, and using them to exercise my dog be justified. Thoughts please.
Hi Dartmoor, I listened to Gove on the BBC today and here is a cut and paste from what he said regarding exercise and leaving the house

On different types of exercise, he said people would be allowed to run, walk or go to an allotment, but not to do more social activities, such as playing golf.

Yep my course has closed now, so I will be stopping at home now until told otherwise.

I could have sworn I saw a smile on the face of a Roe Buck this morning at the thought of all that carefree nooky to be enjoyed in the months ahead! It can't be easy keeping up one's 'performance' with those cute-arsed lady roe when one eye must always be kept open for those SD rail-loving-head-shot-shooting Deer Managers we all read about on here!

Must stop sniffing the hand gel sanitiser.

Just thought I'd write this on here...

I've been in contact the farmer on one of my permissions. He wishes me to continue pest control over his crops. I have called my FEO asking what his stance on this would be and he gave me the following guidance:
"Are you in contact with any other people? No. Are you self-isolating, be it in a field or at home? Yes. Are you carrying out a task that is necessary for the protection of crops and thus the production of food? Yes. Then apply some common sense, get out and do your job"

Warwickshire Constabulary for anyone who is curious. I shall be getting a letter of instruction from the farmer and I shall be going out and self-isolating in a hedge somewhere blasting pigeons

Like my FEO says, apply common sense. Are we in the habit of lethally wounding ourselves as shooters? Are we REALLY going to be a burden on emergency services?

Stay cooped up if you want but the aim is clear, stay away from other people - be it at home or in a field

Edit: Want to add that this isn't intended to kick up a storm but there is an option to get out and enjoy our hobby even amongst all this chaos going on, your circumstances may be different

To do this is bad PR for shooters, whether your FEO agrees or not.

Look at Wetherspoons and Sports Direct: I wouldn't want to be a shareholder in either of them once this is all over and the public start punishing them for their greed. We really don't want to share that boat.

Is Gerald Ratner a deer stalker, could almost swear he’s been posting on here.

There will be a point in time were an entire economy cannot work with everyone not working. My guess is about 2 months max.

I just have to let you know how I see this. Coronavirus there is NO cure as there is no cure for the common cold and the flu, and if you think you can stay in for twelve weeks and then go out and not catch it you are a fool. this lockdown is to try to slow down the virus so that everyone don't catch it all at once, as it would overrun the NHS. This virus is all around the world now and you all will catch it at some point just as you do the flu. I have just heard, "don't know if true yet". That if your farmers where you shoot need protection for there livestock regarding lambing/ chickens ETC and write a letter asking you for protection, you will not be breaking the law but at the present there is no law to stop you yet. Just try to help everyone you can, but try to take care of yourself, the old, and the sick. Take care, all of you. ATB David.

I can't imagine not working for 2 whole months... I would have expected it to be 3 weeks - long enough for any cases outside hospital to become symptomatic and get them contained, and the virus on surfaces to perish.

I've got a strange sense of guilt, being sat at home on my arse for the time being instead of at work
