Stalking Show Deals?

Whilst I get there will be the opportunity to see lots of kit in one place I wondered what people’s experience of the show was when it comes to deals?

I don’t have my FAC granted yet so it’s kit that I’ll be looking at, predominately a thermal spotter and just wondering if the deals are worth what would be about a 6 hour round trip.

6hr round trip to look at kit and eat over priced food! Not for me...

FWIW I went last year and thought it was great.
If there are deals to be had its down to you and your negotiating skills.
If you are after a thermal, where else can you go and be able to get hands on with all the latest offerings from all the manufacturers.
I would be going again this year part from the threat of immediate divorce if Im away for my wife's birthday (its one with a zero at the end!)

Do have to agree that the food is way overpriced.

Very hard to expect retailers to offer especially good deals at this type of event, when it's costing them more money to be there than it would ordinarily do to sell things from their shop or online.
Pre-internet, a show was a good way for retailers to entice a captive audience, and a good opportunity for customers to try and buy things they couldn't otherwise access.

Now, you can have whatever you want delivered to your door tomorrow morning by whichever retailer has it cheapest, and if you don't like it you can send it back for a refund almost as easily as you bought it.

The one big advantage of the Stalking Show is that it's still true to the theme and there is very little of the other junk there. They also seem to do a good job of balancing retailers, so it's not the same stuff for the same price over and over on every stall.

I personally find it great to gently fondle items all in one place and compare. And you get to ask questions. I went to buy a zulus and they were showing off the new item with thermal. I held off buying until that was released.
If the food is overpriced, then bring sandwiches.
If you already have anything then, don’t go, or treat it as a day out..
In your case, it is a good opportunity to see and check kit, you can then buy from the comfort of your home if you so desire,

As above, there will be 3 or 4 of us going Sunday (with drinks and food). Will bump in to a few old face's, (some older than other's) have a bit of banter , and no doubt spend a bit of money.

Its a good opportunity to go and see all the latests kit. No harm in asking any of the retailers there if they will do a deal. Appears 10% discount is a ball.
park on thermals and alike.
Often thermal and bins ergonomics are important so chance for hands on use is invaluable.

I’ve been once and thought it was pretty good. Bumped into some folk I had t seen in years and got to see all the new gear. Parking was easy, all the stalls I expected were there and some more. Even managed to get a few deals on ancillaries. All in all I’ll go again.

Aye, you’ll be able to walk there as well. 😘

Only downside to hands on…..a show is not the best place to be judging how good an image you can see.

hi this is my 4 year going l look forward to the show as it is well run and well priced to get in there are deals as scuffy puts it. to down to you and your negotiating skills. also you can not please everyone

If I'm walking I'd best start now to get there for Sunday.
No I've booked vip parking so I can drop all my goodies off, and back to the truck for drinks and nosh.

If your thinnking of thermals, your inside a show hall, not outside in the enviroment. So id say get your self along to an outdoor demo night to see quality before you look at prices.

As always, we will have show deals.

Our launch of the Pinewood waterproof stalking trousers will be one deal in particular compared to normal pricing.

Some lines have very tight gross-margin implications due to import duty fees and will be at normal web pricing - however customers are saving on p&p charges at the least...

See you there :thumb:

Worth going , it’s a good day out , loads to look at , fiddle with and people to talk too
If you want to do it on the cheap have a break midday retire to your truck and tuck into the picnic you bought with you !! ,
It’s a great place to get hands on especially as you say you’re after a thermal all the makes and models will be there , maybe not at discounted prices but you will head home knowing what you like the look of
For me it’s good value a full day out looking at things on your wish list mixing with like minded people , we’re a couple of hours drive away but definitely will be going

I got a great deal on a couple of Zeiss scopes the other year, Its really good to be able to compare items all in one place and get peoples opinions not just the dealers and if you have a shopping list of smaller items needed you can save on postage from buying online, or check the price on larger pricey items and see if you save on postage. you can also pickup awkward to source items primers powders bullet heads etc great day out we found but we are not doing a 6 hour trip just 4.

I’ll have to have a ponder and speak to the missus. Usually it would be closer to a 5hr round trip from us in South Cambs but I’m out on a stalk in Saturday and then over to the in-laws in north London for the night staying over so it add an extra hour to the journey.

Alternative is I wait until the game fair but the last one of those I went to was in Hatfield so no idea how much if any stalking related type stuff is there.
