Start up stalker

Hi,
I’m new to this site and fairly new to stalking.
I’ve done my Pre-DSC and got my DSC1 booked in for November.
I’ve been on several accompanies stalks and seen plenty but had no luck yet.
I’m applying for my FAC and think I’m going to apply for .308, then get a Tikka or maybe a secondhand Sako.
I will be mainly stalking in Suffolk and Norfolk with some occasional trips to Hampshire and Scotland.

You will not go wrong with a Tikka 308 good all rounder. For all six UK deer. And a good range of lead free ammunition.

There is also a secondhand Sako Carbonlight I’ve seen for new Tikka money. It’s rather tempting!

I have a Tikka in 308 so I am a fan of the tikka. Shot all six UK deer with it.

I figured most of my stalking will likely be the smaller species plus fallow hinds/cull bucks, and because it's less snappy than 308/270 I felt like 243 would give me a bit more confidence in my accuracy while getting used to shooting a centre fire.

I’m a leftie so selling on a rifle would be a nightmare. I’m going for .308 so I can go heavy for the smaller species to slow it down a bit and have the knock down for the bigger ones.
