I would avoid .243 due to the copper issue.
.223 or .222 is also a good bet but .22-250 will certainly do the job.
What copper issues with .243?

Sorry ...meant if you go for a .243 you will need to shoot copper in 3 ish years time whereas with "smaller" calibres you wont. I use a .243 for foxing and occasional deer (6.5 creed is the deer rifle). Appreciate there may be cheaper copper for foxes on the .243 front but much easier with .223 etc. What copper issues with .243?
Legs are the things that allow you to get closer so you dont need to take 600 yard shotsFor 600 yards I’d be tempted to 6.5 Creedmoor, reduced wind drift at range and loads of factory ammo available.
don’t like 95grain vmax but with non lead I’d look at the 100 grain peregrine from Edinburgh rifles
How does the 6mm creedmoor fit in?
Anyone run with light weight bullets?
I'm not too sure about shooting foxes at 600 yards, either by day or especially at night. For 600 yards I’d be tempted to 6.5 Creedmoor, reduced wind drift at range and loads of factory ammo available.

, Fox at 600 would be absolutely miniscule.I agree, the OP mentioned 600 yards and whilst it can be done, that decision is for the person pulling the trigger.Legs are the things that allow you to get closer so you dont need to take 600 yard shots![]()

600 is too far for me either day or night on a fox, but it’s the nut behind the butt who needs to make that judgement.I'm not too sure about shooting foxes at 600 yards, either by day or especially at night.
If your getting it rebarrelled and assuming you’ll reload then go for a fast twist 22-250AI or for a .22 creedmoor.I'm going to start a foxing only rifle and scope, out with deer and comp rifles.
I would like to be mindful and prepare for future copper bullets etc
The ground is open lambing fields over 600 yards between walls.
I would like to run factory ammo..
I'm boiling it down to something rebarrelled, and shot off sticks, not carried for miles every night, but not shot from a vehicle.
22-250 fast twist?
243 1-8 twist?
Open to ideas
Are you sure you’re not on commissionI’d get a Steel Action .223, it’s incredibly fast to reload, being straight pull it also means you dont torque the rifle and lose sight picture.
Lead is going to be banned for .243, but not for .22, under the current proposals that isWhat copper issues with .243?
