Starting out foxing again - rifle?

What copper issues with .243?
Sorry ...meant if you go for a .243 you will need to shoot copper in 3 ish years time whereas with "smaller" calibres you wont. I use a .243 for foxing and occasional deer (6.5 creed is the deer rifle). Appreciate there may be cheaper copper for foxes on the .243 front but much easier with .223 etc.

I bought a couple of boxes of sako blades for the .243 ...at £61 per box not something I would want to be using on foxes :)

Go short? I’ve a 17” 7 twist 223 and 50gr ttsx are rolling out at 3000fps, hit hard, little recoil and accurate. Foxes won’t appreciate being shot by them, nor the smaller deer species.

Go long? Standard twist 24” 220 swift running the same bullets with tips pulled at 3650. Longer barrel and swifter.

204 running factory 32Vmax, cheapish to feed no recoil so to speak, get a good mod and not very loud nowt like a 250. Will still let you see the bullet strike. Ran a few 22-250 for years befor moving over to 204 before the days of any lawfull quarry. If you get into reloading for the 204 then either run 39gr SBK they work very well, or stick with the 32gr Vmax 24" barrel gets mine moving at 4062 fps. Takes the work of any hold over out of it point and shoot.

.22-250 is my go to rifle for foxing, although its a fast twist and I reload, I'm also starting to really like my .17Rem, again I reload but as a dedicated NV rifle its brilliant

600 a long way on a fox for me I’m a 400 limit day and 200 night type of guy. I use a 1:8 222 which let me use heavier bullets. 600 heavy bullets in a 22.250 seems a good place to start for me, avoiding 243 and NLA

I'm going to start a foxing only rifle and scope, out with deer and comp rifles.
I would like to be mindful and prepare for future copper bullets etc
The ground is open lambing fields over 600 yards between walls.

I would like to run factory ammo..

I'm boiling it down to something rebarrelled, and shot off sticks, not carried for miles every night, but not shot from a vehicle.

22-250 fast twist?
243 1-8 twist?

Open to ideas
If your getting it rebarrelled and assuming you’ll reload then go for a fast twist 22-250AI or for a .22 creedmoor.

The .22 ARC is also very good and more frugal on powder if that’s a consideration.

Edit.

Just saw the factory ammo criteria, you won’t get any benefit from a fast twist 22-250 so the 1:8 .243 would be better until the lead ban kicks in.

Ideally, to gain the benefit you need to reload.

I've got a good feeling 243 won't be restricted...
Anyway what's with the sissy loads mentioned above?
My 308 20" Remington use to shoot 110gn v max @3160fps.
I thought these new cartridges were supposed to be superior???
